A couple more interviews

good stuff! really like what hutcherinson and salmon had to say. the one with the writer was interesting too. i like that he said that he tried to stick to the story instead of filling the script with cheesy one-liners that seem to plague most of today's action films.

nice to finally hear from mihok. it sounds like they got soap's character just right. same goes for wayne knight, it's always nice to see actors being cast against their type and doing something new. i also like what lexi said at the end of her interview about intertwining the right amount of action in between the story to keep people from getting bored.

I liked those interviews. I'm counting down until next Friday.

Those interviews are all so promising. Makes me think that the actors all feel they've put together a really good movie, and I believe them.

Except Gale Ann Hurd.

It's just.... :facepalm

Did she just read up on the Punisher 5 minutes before the interview? Geeze.

Kinda makes you wish Avi Arad would return to the spotlight for these interviews, don't it?

Although, I looked her up on imdb and she's been a producer on movies for a long time now, and was not expecting to see her name attached to Terminator, Aliens, and Armageddon.

One more thing is I kinda wish they'd name drop more artists than just Tim Bradstreet.

Hell no, Avi had no issue to Daredevil being Ben Affleck in a full leather red gimp suit running and jumping across rooftops (yeah, offers more protection, but he would be dead from heat stroke and it would take him an hour to get the Leathers off), and the Hulk being the same size as Mighty Joe Young, and getting his powers wrong.

Absolutely. Bradstreet's not bad, but I never really connected with his covers the way everyone else here seems to. They always seemed awkward and overly posed. I know that's not the general consensus, and I do think they're pretty good, but I think that it's pretty hard to say the covers are the inspiration for the artwork in this movie. The lighting and artwork all comes from the stuff inside, whether it be Goran, Larosa or Fernadez. These are the guys that influenced the new Warzone movie more, if you ask me.

There are more notable creator names they can use for the Punisher films, the MAX/Marvel Knights teams didn't create the character! I still miss the creative PG-13storytelling from the 80's-90's comics.

:huh:HOW exactly did he get Hulk's powers wrong?

War Zone (despite the name) is based on the Max series primarily. Sure Jigsaw and Microchip (the good, awesome microchip and the crazy, sadistic Jigsaw, not the MAX ones) but besides that, it isn't based on the 80s comics. It wouldn't make sense to drop names of the original Punisher creators if they haven't influenced the work as much as Ennis has.

Oh man, The Gale Ann Hurd video is tremendous. It's like see seen the trailer for the 1st time 10 minutes before the interview.

Interviewer: Could you tell us about the history of the Punisher and how it translates to the film?

Hurd: Frank...Castle is The Punisher.

Interviewer: Um, yes?

Hurd: Ray Stevenson plays Frank Castle who is The Punisher. He's a normal guy.

Interviewer: Is that all? Care to eleaborate?

Hurd: It takes place in New York. Punisher fights some mafias. And Dominic West plays a Peacock.

Interviewer: Wow. Is that all?

Hurd: Peacock are pretty. And the Punisher likes skulls.

*Interviewer slaps Hurd and walks away

Just based on everyones reaction,I'm not even gonna watch Gale Ann Hurds interview.

I seriously HATE that ***** :cmad:

:huh:HOW exactly did he get Hulk's powers wrong?

The Hulk get's stronger as he get's angrier, not taller and bigger. He's the Incredible Hulk, not the Inflatable Hulk. That was just incredibly ignorant to the characters origin and fan base, as was the nanotech to explain the mutation. Note how they went to a closer route in the newer movie, and the audience just went along with it.

It was Avi's job as Marvels representative to tell Ang that changing the Hulk's powers is not very true to the character. Good riddance.

I have more of a history with the serious tones of the earlier Punisher titles than Ennis doing his over the top dark comedy thing he did on Preacher. I have read a handfull of the Ennis trades, and I really think it stabs the tounge through the cheek more often than not. I enjoy some of it, but I never read all that much to make me think he writes the best Punisher stories.

I also believe he does not deserve as much blank check cred as long term Punisher writers like Mike Baron & Carl Potts, who had to write ongoing Punisher stories and still stay in the confines of the comics code. And also give readers something outside of non existent uber-violence to keep drawing new readers to the title.

I was in my late teens when these Baron & Potts stories we're out and I heavily purchased 3 Punisher titles for a while. I took a break in College from comics, and next thing I knew, the Punisher killed Micro and then became some heavenly avenger with glowing guns or some crap like that. Then came along Welcome Back Frank, which I thought was a little too Preacher-ish and comical for my taste.

While barons run on the punisher is not as good as dixon or ennis run he still did a good job and had some fun stories involing the punisher plus like you said he still had to follow the comic code rules. One thing I did dislike was how in every punisher issue castle brought up his motives I lost count over how many times frank told someone about the central park shooting.

And it took 20 years for film makers to incorporate that fateful scene into a movie. Aside from Car bombs and beachside family reunion massacres.

And besides, it's no worse than Superman mourning Krypton, Spider-man mourning Uncle Ben, Batman mourning his parents in Crime Alley, Bruce Banner and the Gamma Bomb blast, ect. ect. ect. ....

I think they name drop Bradstreet so much is because he is/was really the most constant thing about the comics/MAX series outside of Garth Ennis.

I saw him getting bigger to be a visual representation of his growing strength, because how exactly are you going to convey a big green CGI monster getting stronger when he gets madder.

It's closer to the television origin, but how Ang Lee goes about with the Gamma exposure is actually closer to the comics, he saves someones life. It's not Rick Jones or a gamma bomb but it's closer.

They did it just fine in the newest movie, you see a flicker in his eyes, and him OVERPOWERING whatever is in his way.

The one thing I didn't like about the last film was they still stuck with an unfaithful origin, and playing up to that damn TV show.

I'm really happy to hear everyone's comments in these interviews. It sounds so much like they all have such a good handle on what they are doing.
I am in awe of how perfect Stevenson is for the role. From his physical presence to his voice..he's going to be the best Frank Castle ever on film.
