Exclusive: A&E's 'Breakout Kings' poised to revive 'Prison Break' baddie

Talk about a no-brainer: Former Prison Break producers Matt Olmstead and Nick Santora are courting Robert Knepper to appear in their new A&E fugitive-themed drama Breakout Kings. The best part? The plan is for Knepper to resurrect his classic PB convict T-Bag!

According to sources, execs at 20th Century Fox — the studio behind Prison and Kings — have signed off on the crossover. Now a deal just needs to be hammered out with Knepper, whose killer PB alter ego was sent back to the slammer in the show’s series finale.

Kings, which is described as an “action-packed ensemble drama following an unconventional partnership between the U.S. Marshals’ office and a group of convicts as they work to catch fugitives on the run,” received an 11th hour reprieve last spring from A&E after Fox opted not to pick it up. It’s set to premiere in early 2011.

Im sorry but as much as I loved his character, I think this is just a horrible idea.

*btw I didnt see any other threads about Breakout kings, so mods if there is one pleas could you merge it*

So basically Breakout Kings and Prison Break will take place in the same "universe"? I never watched Prison Break so I don't even know who Knepper is.

IF you watched the last season of Heroes, you know who he is.

I stopped watching after season 3. The show got on my nerves. :csad:

I'd be against this...but I'm a huge fan of Knepper and especially his role as T-Bag.

So, i'm in. :)

I was already going to watch this show, but the addition of T-Bag makes this a 'can't miss' show.

Ok, I did a search and this didn't come up.(which I found suspiciously odd) So, i'm making a thread for it.

Saw the Pilot last night...haven't seen the second episode yet. But I think it was just plain bad. For starters...the old premise is just so unbelievable. And i'm fine with crazy premises, but they have to make some kind of sense.

Taking out a bunch of guys you had a hard time catching to begin with to run around with you and capture one guy...why?

Problem 1 - If you had trouble finding them the first time, why risk it?
Problem 2 - Why? It's one guy. Just look for him the old fashion way

Apparently this show is set in the same world as Prisonbreak.... T-bag is on the show. Maybe it's a spin-off.

Yup, it is. And I loved Prison Break...but this...is just awful...I might give it another chance...but that Pilot was pretty bad.

The show isn't that good. I'm only watching for Serinda Swan.

T-Bag appearing on the show was a perfect send-off for the character.

How hot is Serinda Swan in this show? Does she have a large role?

Hah. I semi lost my mind when I saw that Robert was reprising his role of T-Bag. Lol I didnt even see it coming until I saw him pull out his pocket and saw his prosthetic hand.

Freaking awesome.

I was always hoping if they ever continued Prisonbreak, this would be how they do it. They would hire Micheal and the others to help them catch other prisoners or something. Unfortunately...the Prisoners they picked on this show are all lame. Besides the Dr dude...the other cons are basically useless and could do the same thing any other street wise cop could do.

:funny: This thread got me to check out a trailer and she certainly stood out.

I kinda like the first girl from the pilot better. At least she looked like she would get in her underwear alot on the show. I'm tired of bad girls on TV.

I'm not liking that new girl either. I don't see why everyone is so hot on her. She has some freaky eyebrows.

The show has potential I just feel like they're going about things the wrong way, but I can't really put my finger on it. I feel like Lloyd solves all the crimes and pieces the clues together. they'd be better off just using him. The other characters don't really offer much. What they need to do is offer up some more backstory with these guys and work on their dynamic. The episodes seem too periodic. I'm already seeing the same formula but I'm letting that slide because it's the first couple of episodes. Last's night's was pretty good in my opinion. But yeah, it needs a tune up....and better writing.

Looks like they will air a marathon today at 1 pm for those that missed it

This is one of my top shows of the season!

While I don't completely agree with your assessment, I have to concede that Lloyd is the brains of the group. But his personality can't work well in a vacuum otherwise, he'd just be another geeky con, and forget him working well in the social aspect of his job. He'd be dead a few times over now if it wasn't for his teammates.

Screw the haters, I've been liking this show.

I've been out of town as of late, so I have a lot of catching up to do..

I kinda wish their weren't all stand alone episodes. If there's another season I hope they can do at least a two part episode at least.

Just watching the first season now. So far I'm digging it. Except for all the bleeped swear words. WTH? I've heard worse than this on Everybody Loves Raymond!
