How were the effects of the artificial Kryptonite in Superman 3 able to affect Superman for so long when the effects of regular green Kryptonite only affects him momentarily once it is taken away from him?

Yes Superman was depowered when he conceived Jason with Lois but still the child still ended up having powers but forget the events of Superman Returns when answering the next question as if it were a completely new theory.

Could Superman simply use blue Kryptonite to temporarily make himself normal so he would be able to conceive a child with either Lois or any other woman in the natural way or would prolonged use of the blue Kryptonite permanently affect Superman & possibly take away his powers forever? Once Superman conceived a child with Lois or any other human woman would they have to wear the blue Kryptonite indefinitely until the child was born or perhaps the child itself could be to powerful for them to carry in their wombs & cause them internal damage, or could the baby still be born pretty much normal until it started to grow & then develope its powers as it grew up?

1) Best theory I can came up on the Kryptonite thing is analagous to some form of allergy: some people don't react negatively to exposure to certain combinations of chemical factors, while others do, and if not treated right away it could be damaging or even deadly to the latter; also, someone who reacts badly to exposure to one combination doesn't always react to another. And truth is, we don't actually KNOW what Superman did with the fake Kryptonite after Gus sprang it on him - for all we know, he probably kept it in his apartment laying on the floor while he was sitting in his easy chair scratching himself through his red underwear, gorging on Cheetos and watching action movies while Perry kept leaving angry messages about Clark not coming in to work, and in a fit of contempt he could have chucked it at the answering machine, which would definitely have prolonged the problem.

2) Discounting "Superman Returns", the internal logic of "Superman II" is such that there could be any number of things that could cause Lois to still bear a son that has super-powers - heck, given that Kryptonians were now revealed to have who-knows-how-many powers BEYOND just the 'old standards', I figure that something in that Super-Kiss must have turned up the heat in Lois' oven while shorting out the lights at the same time, if you know what I mean.

3) Using blue kryptonite in the Superman movieverse would be difficult to do since it doesn't exist in the movieverse - there's only ONE color of Kryptonite in the movies. It would have to have been manufactured Websco-style, and even then, who knows what sort of properties David and Leslie Newman (screenwriters on the first three movies - David was co-writer of the Broadway play, on top of that) would have given it beyond what it would normally do...knowing them, they might have refashioned it to be useless on post-pubescent Kryptonians or something, thus conveniently skirting around the mythology just the way WB preferred back in the early 1980s.

If I remember correctly, in the comics, it's gold Kryptonite that takes away his powers, not blue (which has the same effect as green, but only works on Bizarro)

Gold does indeed take away Supes's power, as shown during the Pre-Crisis. Wiki has a great page that talk about all of the different colors of Kryptonite here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kryptonite
