"A Fresh Start" New Marvel Relaunch for 2018

Not interested unless they bring back the Spider marriage and fix the books

I did and I honestly think this is just Dan Slott trolling the fans again like he did in the days leading up to issue #700 when he said "Peter and MJ are going to get back together but its not what you guys think". Then Doc Ock took over Peter's body and MJ quickly broke up with "Peter" because he was acting like a pig.

I have to ask... as someone who has had only minimal involvement with Marvel's comics for awhile... have they STILL not undone One More Day???

And that **** was pre-New 52. I'm actually a little surprised.

No hence why people are saying they should

It is pretty amazing that it stuck. But, considering the attitude that forced it in the first place is still pretty prevalent.

Didn't they just reboot with Legacy? Or was that a soft reboot and this a full reboot?

It wasnt a reboot. All Legacy did was bring the original numbers back to the titles. The creative teams and books remained as they were

So what's the big deal about this? So far it just seems like Iron Man, Captain America, and Thor have returned to their inevitable basic status quos like we all expected.

Black Panther looks interesting from the solicits but that book was going very well without a new #1.

The X-men seem unaffected by it, and hopefully nothing interrupts Red's momentum and hopefully All New Wolverine is safe.

Original hulk and wolverine look like they're coming back from the dead

It's typical Slott and part of the reason I'm not getting my hopes up. That said, remember that Slott is not doing the writing by himself. Gage is still helping to fill out these issues and from what I would guess, Slott is being mandated to use the classic characters once again and to have Peter and MJ reunite. Since he's mostly against this idea, he is probably putting that on Gage to complete.

This last issue was the most in character I can remember in recent years that I've seen either Peter or MJ though tbh Peter was still out of sorts. It was nice seeing both MJ and Flash basically telling Peter to snap out of it. But I certainly wouldn't put it past Slott to troll the fans...the only saving grace might be that his supervisors are making him do it one way and not his.

And really it only seems to be Dan Slott that is carrying that torch. I really don't see much of that in Marvel, despite what Dan claims, from anyone else regarding Peter or MJ. Marvel has no issue putting them on covers together, there's the ongoing RYV series, Marvel even had an MJ celebratory month, and not too long ago Peter and MJ were listed as Marvel's 2nd best couple on the official Marvel website. But Slott would have you believe otherwise because it's what he wants and he's insecure and threatened by what others may want.

The X-men books are all wrapping up plots. AXM ends in June. Gold and Blue have been rumored to end in summer for months now. Gen X and Iceman are ending this month (Gen X already done). Taylor did an interview and he said he couldnt talk on the future staus of ANX. The X-line is about to get a refresh with this. Red is the only book I would say is safe bc it just started but I can easily see it ending after the first arc and relaunched under a new name

Wolverine came back last year

Based on the solicitations, it does sound like a desperation move.

With MCU churning out one hit after another, it amazes me that the comics can’t capitalize on their success and ride their momentum.

movie sales dont translate into comic sales and the audience thats made the movies as profitable as they are, are not the same that actually buy the books

And even more importantly, separate teams. I think we can all agree that the creative committee mainly of the comic people were holding the MCU back. And the people at Marvel seem almost unwilling to change.

I almost wonder if the "fresh start" is just something the new EIC felt he needed to do for his ego. Although, if what they said about how they are treating retailers at a retailer summit are true, they are in a very, very bad position.

Was that recent? I don't see anything on Bleeding Cool regarding that matter.

There is a reason for that.

Damn, that sounds brutal. I have found that over the past year the DC books I've picked up have been consistently better than Marvel. It's been nothing big, but I've just found them to be a stronger all around product.

You know... that doesn't really bother me much. I hate spoilers, and I can completely understand if a company wants to avoid their product being spoiled as well. Especially if it's been a problem of late. Yeah, sucks that it's come to that... but I understand the mindset.

More like they want to prevent another incident like last year. Where reports of retailers railing against diversity did not paint Marvel in a good light. Near as I can tell, not much story stuff is actually given at these.

If this means the actual end of the SJW nonsensical BS era of Marvel Publishing then all I can say is THANK GOD!

I'll believe it when I see it but I so want to return to buying Marvel again after stopping because of all the SJW trash. Give us back REAL Cap, Thor and Iron Man and keep ultraliberal garbage out of my entertainment!

:mnm:

At least it's male Thor, what appears to be Stark as Iron Man, Rogers as Cap, etc. Hopefully they've listened to fans' discontent with the SJW idiocy littering the company. Is this due to Bendis leaving? Hopefully he won't blight DC the way he did Marvel.

Bendis hasnt spearheaded the Avengers line in like 5-6 years. The SJW became prevalent with All New, All Different Marvel and he was only writing the two Iron Man books, Spider-man (Miles), Jessica Jones and Defenders by then
