At the end of Spider-Man 3, it seems that we see the end of Eddie Brock Jr. and the majority of the symbiote. After his death there seems to be no possible way that he could come back. I thought to myself that instead of bringing Eddie Brock Jr. back, how about Eddie Brock Sr.?

Think about it, the version we saw was like seeing another Peter Parker, so what if we saw an Eddie just like the comics? Brock Sr. would be the muscular guy in his mid-40's and wants the death of Peter Parker/Spider-Man because he blames him for the death of his son, Brock Jr.

I was thinking of a story, what do you all think of my idea?

Um... seems like the only reason for doing that would be to just see the more muscular Venom... I personally like the Venom they used... I didn't buy the muscular Venom...

... aaaand... it strays from the comics QUITE a bit...

AAAAND... in the comics, wasn't Eddie Brock's father dead? or he was still alive, but didn't care much about his son... or he was an abuser.. or something like that... so i don't see why he'd want revenge for his death... ?

I dont think he died in the comics. But say that he did disown his son, but what if he regretted it?

Highly unlikely.

When a man hardens his heart against someone it's highly likely they just get up and say "hey, I think I love my son! O_O "

:P

Well...yeah maybe. But maybe there could be a reason why he disowned him, like jealousy because his son did better than him in life.

I actually had the same idea. It would stray from the comics but since Raimi has already blown Venom's origin to pieces, why not? We could get rid of the talentless Topher and the one note version of Venom in SM3. With the right script, we could still have a version of Brock/Venom that is more like the 616 version.

they could do that.. it works logically.

but im guessing no more venom in SM4. Just a guess.

man, I see your point, but they just used most of all Eddie Brock's characteristics (and the most important, his hatred for Spider-man for ruining his life) in the one we saw in SP3. Bringing back a guy who just calls himself Eddie Brock (Sr) and give him a symbiote just doesn't make Venom.

Like you, I want to see Venom back, because the way he was portrayed in SP3 (even if it was only for a brief moment) was 99% positive for me (I didn't buy the team-up with Sandman, the movie itself showed that in the end, venom could have kicked Spidey AND Harry's ass on his own...he killed one of them...and killed almost the other...) and if he had more screentime and development, he could have been Spidey's ultimate villain. Like you I think he deserves another chance, but personnaly I gave up this idea. for me it won't happen unless with a very twisted way I surely won't buy and ruin the character. If that ****ing skeleton wasn't there, I coulda have accepted that the pumpkin bomb just injured the symbiote and Eddie Brock pretty badly, and the violence of the explosion threw them away. Give the symbiote a limited regenerative property and I could buy why Brock wouldn't be disfigured. Yeah that I could accept...

But it's just my point of view, I respect yours

Im a huge Venom fan, and i thought Topher did a steller job as Eddie. And if not mistaken some of the lines were ad-lib from Grace who is a fan of Venom. Like the "Spider senses" line. I dont care that he wasnt a hulking monster. I dont like Venom being enormous, he should be bigger then spidey but he doesnt have to be giant to be Venom. Topher did a good job of getting down Brock's personality, maybe slightly more whiny, but i still bought the anguish of the man in the 9 minutes we got to know Eddie. I think Brock needed more development. I dont want anyone else in the Venom suit. Not Scorpion, Not Eddie Brock Sr. Not Eddie Brock Esquire, Not Edwardo Del Brock, Not Barock Obama, you get the point. If Sandman can kill uncle ben, kill police officers, rob banks, fight spiderman with venom for 20 minutes, and still be forgiven for no apparent reason other then he says sorry, then im sure Eddie Brock can come back for some less moronic reason then some other person getting the suit.

The more I think about it, the more it seems plausible. The utterly stupid "fake photo" idea in SM3 robbed Eddie Brock of the self-justification that he had in the comics. With the Sin-Eater scandal in the comics, Brock thought he had played by the rules and that Spidey's subsequent involvement was an unnecessary event that wrongly destroyed Brock's career. Not only did SM3 give us no backstory for Eddie's psychosis ( his dad's neglect, his failed marriage ) but we get a rich looking, unscrupulous jerk who knew he had engaged in fraud before getting caught. That just ripped the soul out of the character.
The idea of Eddie Brock Sr. would come from a different angle but it could still be true to Venom's core. A grieving father who suffers from years of depression, job loss, broken relationships because of the untimely death of his son would be closer to 616 Eddie's essence. It would give Venom the delusional self image that he sorely lacked in SM3.

It's an interesting idea, but I wouldn't go for it. First off we assume his father is gone when Brock says "He has nothing." and is forced to doctor photos, and also there's no reason to have a bigger Brock when Venom is supposed to be the opposite of Spidey. Which Topher pulled off pretty well.

X2 great. Batman and Returns... great.

The rest... wait another decade or two.

We'd love to tell all of you what we'd like to do with Venom.....but then I'd get myself permanently banned for doing so.

Uh, Eddie's father is Carl Brock, not Eddie Sr.

Oh, and I think the cold hearted, emotionally frigid Carl Brock from the Lethal Protector miniseries would better serve the story drama wise.

.

We're on a different line of thinking since Raimi started us out with a weird, weak version of Ultimate Venom. The idea of Eddie Sr. isn't my first choice but it could work in trying to get a more 616 Venom for SM4.

so, if, hes not named after his father, where does the Jr. come from?

there not necessarily going straight from the comics, with that (they kinda made him a mix of the original eddie and eddie jr., using the original story for the most part, just giving him the younger, smaller look, and name of eddie jr.)
There was a guy named Eddie mentioned in the first movie (though, we, know eddie brock was suppose to make a cameo in the first movie, but ended up being cut out) having him as sir. might work
(maybe, he was also, the photographer in sm2 that got hit in the head with a polo ball, and has been in the hospital this whole time, and Eddie jr. was trying to take up his fathers role at the bugle)

although, i'd say, just move on to other villains
we got "a" venom, if it was the one you wanted to see or not, its been done, obviously if they wanted to set him up for future use, their would of

venoms death can be overlooked!!i know u saw a skeleton..but it culd of been an x-ray type effect. for me eddie jumped into the symbiote, bonded then barely got away from the explotion lol

alt universe: eddie flipped a coin and it landed on tails so he decided NOT to jump into the explosion... and fry and leela are married.

Deaths can be side-stepped so easily...I can see probably three or four different ways WITHOUT EVEN THINKING that Venom could come back...and hte fact that a dead character will come back in SM4 is a dead give away...V-Man should come back as Topher Grace, which, I think, is excellent.
