hey guys....with the dvd coming out in a week....I thought I'd throw this your way

I think this is probably the BEST review of X3, I've seen on the web.

its over a hour and a half long......they touch on EVERYTHING

take a listen

Yeah, I'm actually listening to it now...It was posted in the other thread..

even though sundays are really boring and Ive got nothing to do, theres no way i can sit through an hour and a half of guys rambling on. Cant you summarise their main points about the movie?

Well, I started listening to this thing like, almost 4 hours ago and I'm just past the first hour... :p

The thing is, BB, all you have to do is listen to a little bit of it, do whatever, and come back, because that's what I've been doing.. :p

They've been covering almost everything...They didn't like the film, but they actually give very strong and understandable reasons for their dislike. I mean, it's not 90 minutes of extreme bashing or anything, I guess..It's well worth listening to...

WOW. I think it's longer than the film itself.
It's 3 minutes shy of the movie's running time..

okay so im half way through and its nice to hear from non xmen fans. "multuplicity guy" lmao, its true though really I mean, if you were going into the movie with no prior knowledge of the xmen world, you probably wouldnt remember angel or multiple mans real name...in fact, did they actually mention madrox's name in the movie at all?

One point i really liked though so far was that they recognised there was no real lead character in the film. We are used to seeing the story through Logan and there wasnt really any of that this time compared to previously, it was all "storm, storm, storm".

okay, just finished listening to it and damn, I completely agree with about 95% of the points they make. You were right guys, listen to this podcast to hear an unbiased review

They make valid points, and I have to agree with their conclusion. Unlike them, I'm willing to write it off as a popcorn movie, and thereby say that I enjoyed it a lot. But treating it as a film...man, this was a stinker.

if you want to hear more from these guys (Andy and John) check out

they have lots of great film podcast shows. I've listened to a few, and they really know their stuff.

VERY informative.

take it easy

I think they overexaggerated Storm's overall presence in the movie...She was prominent, but it was only because I think no one else was there to do the scenes. With Jean and Cyclops and then Xavier out of the picture for the X-Men, what else could she do but provide the rest of the weight as a senior X-Men and being the make-headmaster? To me, it's almost like they had a problem with Halle Berry (not Storm), having a bigger role or something,... :o

I agree. They definitely had a problem with Halle, and let it affect their opinion of Storm's portrayal (which wasn't that bad, really).

I agree with the Halle thing, but this review has to be one of the best reviews I've ever heard/seen.

yeah i got that feeling to. I disagreed with them when they siad halle did a horrible acting job in this..I think she was prettu decent. Storm actually had a good role in this film I dont get how they hated that. I COMPLETELY agree with the wolverine is anti-hero. Everytime i saw him giving orders or giving a coach speech..i cringed because thats NOT wolverineI pretty much agreed with about 90% of what they said though

Well, when the actress is not good at all in the role, then yea, there's reason to have that problem...

Well, when you consider that she only has superpowers in common with Storm, I can understand why the problem would be with Halle rather than Storm. Storm wasn't in this movie. I'm not sure if she was in any of them.

This review was at times ridiculous and way off-the-mark, at other times I totally agree with what they said.

Halle is not a terrible choice for the role, especially when you consider people on here have mentioned Rupaul, Beyonce and Naomi Campbell as ideal alternatives. Very few people could match up to the regal, statuesque look of comicbook Storm and combine her exotic look of Caucasian features, white hair and dark skin.

i think a part of Storm was in X1. Then she was completely screwed.
But i think that if Halle got to semi-reach a Storm in X1, with a serious and focused direction (also a better wig), she can reach a Storm (or least something close to) in a sequel.

But come on, very few people would ever be able to make a perfect Storm. Actually, i think no Hollywood actress could completely. There are just too many different/peculiar aspects about her.

But Halle could have at least tried, something she never did.

She got to fly in X-Men: The Last Stand, and she thought that her character finally had some meaning, when her character was probably the most out of character of any of the 3 films.

Look, trust me, I do put the fair share of blame on the writing, because none of the writing teams gave her the right material to work with...

But she also just didn't do a good job with what she was given in any of the 3 movies. What one of the DVD reviews said, was perfect. And I quote:

"It's amazing how the character of Storm simply doesn't work well, but considering it's been two directors and a host of writers so far and just one actress, it might just be her fault."

And I totally agree.

Halle might not have always had the proper material, but she just wasn't the right person for the part to begin with.

Out of all the characters in the trilogy, she is the ONLY one in which I see the actor, and not the character, when I'm watching these films.
