Does anyone think Doom has kinda been getting the shaft by Marvel over the past 10 years. Ever since he has come back from hell he just seems to be used as a steeping stone for other villians or someone who is easily taken out and made a lackey. I think someone really needs to give him a push back up the change since to me he always has the potential to be Marvels top threat and the last 10 years he has been overshadowed by the likes of The Hood?

It pretty much sums up my whole feeling on the matter.

I mean, when you get right down to it, pretty much most of the MU villains have gotten the shaft in the last 10 years. I mean when the heroes weren't fighting each other, they were fighting f**king Ninjas, or new threats created out of nowhere like religious fundamentalist Skrulls and ancient forgotten Gods. What makes Doom so deserving of such a fuss? How about something awesome for Magneto? Or the Leader? Hell, for a good while there wasn't a Sorcerer Supreme, why wasn't there a huge event with Dormammu or Mephisto as the big baddy? Hell, I'd even take a multi-issue Iron Man/Cap crossover with Modok kicking ass with his short stubby legs.

Doom's got more than enough crap over the last 40 plus years. Be nice to see some of the other just as awesome villains shine.

and i totally agree with you on all your points. I think alot of classic villians have gotten the shaft cause most of the big names in Marvel have no idea how to write them. I would love to see Mephisto and leader to get some light as well.

When it comes to Doom its the fact that he has gotten that light and cause he has over most characters through the years it just seems like even more of a waste imo.

The Leader was just involved with a GREAT story arc in the Hulk books, which included and effected a great many characters from throughout the Marvel Universe.

i know he has pretty much only just kicked the bucket...but i'd lov e to see the return of the red skull.
sin is ok and all...but her dads the daddy!

There was a great story arc in the Hulk books recently? I find that hard to believe.:o

I don't know, I hear Parker's been doing a good job.

But it was just a storyarc in a comic he's always associated with. How about an event that actually uses some of the actual villains they already got?

Well, the next big Spider-Man event is supposed to be orchestrated by Doctor Octopus, and Bendis's grand finale on the Avengers titles is going to feature Ultron, so there's something.

eh, i am not a big fan of Bendis touching the classic villians. His last work with Ultron was very subpar. Looking forward to the Doc Ock arc, even if i am really not a fan of his new design.

Doom has Scarlett Witch powers in Childrens Crusade and was whooping both The Avengers and X-Men's asses.

My problem is more the fact they are making too many great villains either good guys or allies while not creating enough good new villains.

How do you make new baddies if your going to go back to the old ones? I think Doom has had the appropriate amount of exposure and love that they ended his feud with Reed.

That feud will never die, I don't give a s**t if they team up for the rest of eternity. And I don't count Children's Crusade in regards to the use of Doom. Bimonthly events that are 3-4 yrs behind in continuity aren't allowed to be a factor in my book.

Nothing wrong with having old recurring villians. You wouldn't want to see characters like the Doctor Doom or Joker or Lex Luthor killed off for good.

Using the classic villains every now and again shouldn't get in the way with coming up with new villains.

Yeah, but good new villains are few and far between.

He is, but the Leader hasn't been involved in any of it. He actually reverted to Samuel Stearns before Parker started, so he's a non-issue right now.

Yeah, i was referencing the Intelligencia storyline, from a few months previous. I thought The Leader was written and utilized quite well in that storyline, which involved a good many heroes and villains from the Marvel universe.

I thought it was a fairly terrible story overall, but the Leader did get to be one of the big bads. MODOK too. I appreciated that. They're usually not headlining villains, in my experience.

Doom has been OK within the fantastic four books. Some interesting stuff done with him.

Problem is, he hasnt really been a villain....not in FF at least. He's always nuanced there.

JMS had him as Dr.Mengele and Bendis just has him all wrong.

Last great story with Doom in it was Unthinkable.

Though I do like the Uncle Doomsie of FF.

Marvel just waiting for the announcemnt of a Fantasic 4 reboot film from Fox.

Unthinkable sucked. It's true Doom hates the accursed Richards , but he would never kill Valeria and wear her skin as armor. He would never make a deal with a demon. He would never send a young boy to Hell.

The last good Doom story was The Books of Doom.

Why wouldn't he do those things? Doom's never lacked motivation to do terrible things in pursuit of his goals.
