A New Era for the Wrestling Thread

Oh, I might have to go.

I really enjoyed Raw. Punk not closing the car door annoyed me. I'm ready for a Woods heel turn he needs his own yes movement or kofimania type deal imo.

Ricky from Smackdown needs to be in the Rumble this year, and he should eliminate KO.

So are Oba Femi or Athena ever going to lose their titles?

Punk's promo that kicked off Raw was fantastic, the tone he used reminded me of Jake Roberts, the way he stared down the camera for the "See you in Hell" go home line was great stuff.

The Bronson Reed and Braun Strowman monster mash segment was glorious, this is the best Godzilla vs King Kong feud I've seen in a long time. I'm guessing they are building to a Falls Count Anywhere match.

I'm liking the use of the backstage promos to promote matches instead of multiple 10 minute talking segments in the ring. Of the in-ring mic segments I liked Kaiser and Sami, and how it planted some interesting seeds between Kaiser and Gunther, Sami's becoming a proper little friendship wrecker lol. Jey Usos is not a good promo, but once Bron got out there I felt they played off each other well and they did some solid build across the show for their Intercontinental title match next week.

The highlight of the show was Iyo vs Bianca, both Ladies brought it and delivered a great match, I don't think I've seen so many kip-ups in one match before lol, and the various counters were slick, Iyo's deadlift German suplex into a picture perfect bridge was class and Bianca walking up the stairs holding Iyo in the stalling suplex was incredible! :wow: the small package counter out of the KOD was the perfect finish.

The return of SNME is interesting, especially it being close to Christmas, I can see it being a fun show.

The contract signing throughline between Trick and Page on NXT worked well, both guys are confident on the mic and bringing the intensity, Trick in particular has upped his promos in recent weeks. Punk being added as the special referee for their title match in Chicago is good call.

Speaking of Punk, the segment with him and Roxanne was the highlight of the show, she really took her chance to be in a promo segment with her idol and nailed it "I should have been a Drew McIntyre fan" :funny:Giulia is keeping it simple on the mic for now, very deliberate and precise delivery, relying more on her aura and presence.

Have you watched Iyo and Bianca's Backlash match yet?

Another good show this week, LA Knight vs Andrade was a good opener, I've got to give credit where it's due, Knight has really upped his game in the ring, his first 3 defenses of the US title have all been good. I like that they're also keeping things perculating between Andrade and Melo, that brawl was stiff.

I also have to give credit to Nia, she's had a really good run this year and is doing well as Champion, I thought the finish for the tornado tag match was really well executed, those spots can easily go awry, but they nailed it. I expected Aldis to make it a triple threat, and he might still do that if Nia interferes in the Bayley vs Naomi match next week, but I'm hoping Bayley puts Naomi over, the loss wouldn't hurt Bayley, it would level up Naomi and add a genuine fresh contender to the title mix.

The 6 man main event was decent but the beat down afterwards dragged a bit. I like how they're sewing seeds of resentment from Owens to Cody due to him teaming up with Roman, this will be especially good if they are on the War Games team together at Survivor Series.

Oh yeah I watched that a while ago, WWE have it on their YouTube, fantastic match. 👍

This cinematic segment was so well done, from the epic arrival shots to the music, to the camera angles they used as they went back and forth, this kind of segment can come off really goofy, even with WWE's top notch production values, because it's relying on wrestlers actually acting a scene, not just cutting a promo, but Cody and Roman did a fantastic job. It's amazing to see how the WWE under Triple H has even gotten back to the days when a tag match that would have been a throwaway Raw or Smackdown main event any random week from the attitude era onwards, is once again a viable big match on a PPV that the fans are actually invested in.

It's great seeing WWE using vignettes more often these days

I could definitely see this being a match at Wrestlemania.

Chelsea is the best. Who does more with their limited screen time than her?

Interesting that Heyman directed Roman and Cody, and Jeremy Borash, who was such a TNA mainstay under Dixie Carter, was the producer.

Absolutely, she's always gold, she's Teflon.

I don't know what it says about AEW that Jeff Jarrett is a top 5 wrestler there right now, but he is. :funny:
