A New Era for the Wrestling Thread

So who are everyone's current 10 favorites?

Mine:
1. GUNTHER
2. Bryan Danielson (my GOAT)
3. Roxanne Perez
4. Adam Page
5. Giulia
6. Iyo Sky
7. Kevin Owens
8. Randy Orton
9. Dominik Mysterio
10. Rhea Ripley
I lost interest in AEW and I am currently more into sports entertainment stuff than work rate stuff

In no particular order

Drew McIntyre
Oba Femi
GUNTHER
Gayne, The big Gay machine (it's a great hilarious gimmick that probably ticks off Glenn)
Ashant thee Adonis
Dirty Dominik
Kali Armstrong
Wren Sinclair
Naomi
Sol Ruca

It's not Dommy Time :funny:

I think Tiffany cashes in on Nia at Crown Jewel.

Raw was meh I'll give it a C. I feel like they're struggling figuring out how to go back to the two hours format.

Rhea and Tiffy giving off Wednesday and Astrid vibes.

The highlight for me was the returning War Raiders now vikingless. Hopefully they take the belts off Finn and JD. Now maybe Valhalla can go back to just being Sarah Logan..

I also liked the Dragon Lee video. Got me interested in him. I've been very meh on him. Didn't even know he spoke english. If someone could recommend some stand out matches of his that would be great. I mean he's clearly a great athlete, but I need to see more.

only thing I know about Dragon Lee is that he is Rush and Dralístico's younger brother

The Rhea and Tiffy stuff on Raw was good, real opposites and a little taste of more down the line. The tag match main event wasn't great, I had no idea Raquel was like a female Great Khali in the ring :nrv: the highlight was Liv's reaction when Raqhli pitched her onto Rhea and Tiffy. When Nia made the run-in it looked for a moment like the cash-in was going to happen, I think they're building an interesting uncertainty about who Tiffy will cash in on.

Bron's explanation of why he speared Jey made enough sense, and those vignette promis work well, it was cool to see a shot of of Steiner brothers. The little interaction with Jey and Jimmy was simple but effective too.

The women's tag team title match was the in-ring highlight, I love the tandem offense of the Sky Pirates, and the interference from Lash & Jakara is good way to really inbed them into the title scene and avoid a clean loss for Iyo and Kairi.

I like the promos that Bronson Reed and Seth had with Pearce, their respective reasoning for why they want the match from their relative career positions made sense, and props to Reed for that old school Vader shirt. :D

Cody and Gunther did a good job of making their Champion vs Champion match feel important, despite the dubious placement of it. Interestingly Cody and Seth both referenced Brock in their promos. 🤔

On NXT they got half of the Halloween Havoc card booked, I'm not sure about a TLS match for Oba and the Don, but the rubber match makes sense, as does Trick vs Page, given the short turnover between the 2 big CW debut shows and the PLE. The triple threat to decide the #1 contender was very good.

Hopefully Wes Lee vs Je'Von Evans will be added to Halloween Havoc and I could see Ridge Holland vs Andre Chase also on the card, even though Chase looks like a pervy geography teacher, his return went well.

I remember seeing gifs of Nikita Lyons but this was the first match I'd seen of her, she's another unit with good mobility, the match with Lola was okay, I'm guessing she's took that splits finisher out of her offense due to the knee injuries.

I thought the Gentleman Duel match between Ora Mensah and Lexis King was a great showcase for both guys, reminded me a bit of the old ROH Pure title, matches. I love how much Booker marks out for the "star of all television!" :D

Stephanie Vaquer doesn't have the presentation of Giulia but it was a good debut against the consistently improving Wren Sinclair. The aftermath brawl with Roxanne and Cora sets up a bonanza tag team match for Halloween Havoc.

I love the way this angle between Owens and Cody is being done, but WWE need to be careful, they could inadvertently turn some fans on Owens side, as rebels always get over in pro wrestling.

I mean

that literally already happened with Steen vs Cornette lmao. The fans turning on Cody is genuinely inevitable. The only Super Baby Faces it never happened to were Stone Cold and CM Punk and that's simply because they both turned heel too fast for it to happen (which led to fans still cheering for them anyway). I see far worse ways of it happening than Owens finally remembering he's got that Dude in him

:funny: such a talented athlete, but like most of the AEW roster he thinks he knows way more than he actually does, and lacks the humility to learn.

I wonder if she'd go onto the main roster or work with her "daughters" in NXT.

Make of that what you will......

I think the booking for Owens is great, I've never been a fan but this interesting, right now though Cody is moving more merchants than anybody in not just the company but he's top 5 in sports and entertainment in general.

So right now isn't really the time WWE will be wanting to play with the fan gauge imo.

Great to see the Motor City Machine Guns in WWE, I'd rather they had a regular tag match to debut, instead of the awkward triple threat deals, but they still shone as always, just so slick on offense, looking forward to their #1 contenders match with DIY next week.

Lash getting a singles runout was good for her, even if the match was pretty cumbersome, the main thing was she hit her finish impressively. Chelsea takes bumps in high heels better than some do in wrestling boots lol, she sells everything so well. Bianca & Jade were giving off heels vibes in the crowd.

I'm guessing the video of Owens they showed wasn't the one he referenced, looks like Randy is going to have to see Triple H to get the match booked, the big question though, is will he ever get some pants? 🤔

I don't know if Tiffy has shoot flu but Candice LeRae getting the spot and the pin on Bayley, I'm guessing is down to Bayley, I've seen her mention Candice before as someone she felt should be utilised more. The exchanges between Nia and Baomim

I liked the approach Jey took, not just jumping to pick a side as Solo is hi brother too, but clearly having issues with the recruitment of the Tongans and Jacob, nice little tease there as well. Roman followed this up with a surprising call for peace with Solo, but that went about as well as expected lol.

I think Lash got over last night with that slam and win over Piper.

I wish Piper would get the same treatment Nia is getting but damn, good for my girl Lash!

And Undertaker having Trump on his podcast (which is not a surprise at all) INSTANTLY takes him off my wrestling fave Mt Rushmore.

Your heroes disappoint you all the time.

Meanwhile Punk after his Cell match went and talked to Arn, Tully, and DDP to ask them for advice and critiques.

Hmm I have a question for everyone here about their Mt Rushmore. I'll make it a bit easier though. Give me one for WWF and one since they became WWE.

For WWF politics and personal feelings aside I have to put Hogan along with Macho, Austin, and Rock

I think the WWE version would have to be Cena, Orton, Edge, and Roman.

Honorable mention Rey Mysterio and Seth Rollins

I'm trying to think business wise etc. Along with matches and longevity. If I chose personal favorites it would be

Bret, Shawn, Eddie Guerrero, and Booker T

My All Time Faves:

Bret, HBK, Macho, Undertaker, Austin

As far as the women:

Sensational Sherri, Miss Jacqueline, Luna Vachon and Trish Stratus
I would've said Madusa but she's ten toes down for the Orange felon too.

Good question!

I always think of the Mt Rushmore of wrestling as Hogan, Flair, HBK & Taker, the biggest star draw, the greatest World Champion, the greatest in-ring performer and the most iconic special attraction.

WWF (business) - Hogan, Macho Man, Austin & Taker
WWF (personal) - Shawn, Bret, Macho Man & Mick Foley

WWE (business) - Cena, Brock, Roman & Edge
WWE (personal) - Shawn, Punk, Bryan & Angle

The Women's is more difficult as things have progressed so much in the last decade, but.....

WWF - Trish, Lita, Sherri & Chyna
WWE - Mickie, Becky, Charlotte & Asuka

Ooh I hadn't considered the women. I have to go Sherri, Luna, Lita, and Trish.

Mickie is thisclose for me.

Well Mickie's time was when it had become WWE so that's how i split them. :D

Honorable mentions to Akira Hokuto, Bull Nakano and Aja Kong as far as the ladies go too.

They were VICIOUS in their day.

I loved watching Aja Kong in particular, she was like a female version of Vader, those backfist's! 🤯
