A New Era for the Wrestling Thread

Halloween Havoc was one of the weakest shows this year, not terrible, just a bit like a n extended episode of the TV show.

The TLS match was a mess, a ladder match where you don't have to climb the ladder to get the belt? by the end it was impossible to define who was face and who was heel, D'Angelo gets lots of outside help that Vic Joseph calls like it's a face thing, and then Oba Femi threateningly stalks Rizzo around the ring....even the spinebuster finish through table was awkwardly done.

The Ambulance match was fine, it was the next step in building Ridge Holland as a monster, and he looks set for a mini feud with Bubba Ray before going after Trick and the NXT title that he successfully defended in a serviceable main event.

Kelani Jordan did her best Ricky Steamboat in a gauntlet match with Fatal Influence, the heels have never really gotten over and Fallon Henley couldn't have looked much weaker in her North American title win before getting demolished by Zaria.

The standout match by far was the tag team match with Roxanne & Cora Jade vs Giulia & Stephanie Vaquer, I thought Cora kept up pretty well given how long she's been out, but Roxanne was on fire against both Giulia and Stephanie, she needs to wrestle both in more singles matches before going to the main roster. I'm hoping the fact Stephanie pinned her means they'll face off for the title on the episode of NXT at the ECW arena. I was surprised to see Zaria appear at the end of this match, the reaction from all 4 women to her was great.

Bit of a flat Raw this week, not really interested in Sami Zayn in general and the main event was weird, Dom wins about as clean as he ever will in a standard Judgment Day match, then Priest kinda came off like a sore loser, it was just odd and it's hard to figure out where it's going.

The Rollins/Reed brawl was fun and definitely boosted Reed, looks like they're giving Rollins an injury out.

Whoever is putting these promos together for Rhea needs to get more creative instead of just trying to whitewash her history.

The tag team triple threat match was the best of the night, and with Gable's interference attacking Rey and the Creeds helping Ivy Nile it looks like the LWO vs American Made is underway, I think it'll be good for both groups.

With Pearce yelling at Aldis about getting his roster under control I'm guessing they could be setting up a traditional Survivor Series, Raw vs Smackdown match.

I'm liking this new direction for Lexis King and it's great to see Regal back in the mix.

I watched her match against Jordynne Grace, she's an interesting prospect, I wonder who'll be fed to her tonight.

Sammi for sure will be added, or interfere here. He's super over in Saudi. I'm guessing this one will go on last.

I hope not, Cody vs Gunther should definitely go on last, but I agree that Zayn will figure into the finish of the 6 man tag match.

NXT was back on good form this week, the angle with Bully Ray and Trick is a decent bit of business for Trick, and a tag match vs Ridge Holland and Ethan Page at the ECW arena next week is a solid main event choice, whether Ridge is ready to be a main event challenger is doubtful but he's been built up pretty well as a monster.

Looks like a few ECW originals will be on deck next week, RVD will be doing something with Wes Lee and Je'Von Evans, Dawn Marie is refereeing the hardcore match between Jaida Parker and Lola Vice, Nunzio is going to face the Don, and apparently Francine will be there as well.

I'm liking this new direction for Lexis King, and having Regal as his new mentor is a great idea, Regal is always a welcome addition and there's a genuine intrigue about what's actually going to happen with this seeming face turn for King.

The tag team title main event was really good, it looks like both teams might be splitting up but honestly I don't think that benefits any of the 4 guys, Fraxiom in particular have a better chance getting to the main roster as a team, than as singles.

Zaria's debut match went well, it was exactly what it needed to be for a powerhouse, a squash match, although thry did this arm spot that made me wince, I'm guessing Brinley Reece is double jointed lol.

Afterwards they merged the North American title scene and NXT Women's title scene and the return of Jordynne Grace to set up a big ten woman tag in the ECW arena next weelk.

Rhea then showed up to congratulate them, before Raqhli and Liv left her bloodied, I felt this was designed to offset that awful promo vignette they did on Raw, trying to whitewash Rhea's past, instead just focusing on how horrible Liv and Raqhli are, but I also wonder if this was setting up Rhea's War Games team. 🤔

I'm guessing Rhea will be back with a cool mask in time for War Games.

A little off topic, but what I wouldn't give if they could change the current World Tag Team Championship design with the NXT UK version.

Speaking of which, does anyone else feel like the Raw Tag Team Division has really fizzled out as of late?

With Rhea hurt should Tiffy cash in on Liv at Crown Jewel? My prediction was and is Tiffy will cash in, but I figured it would be in Nia. If she doesn't, who should be Liv's challenger? Zelina? Iyo?

I fully expect the winner of Liv vs Nia to be Tiffany Stratton. I wonder if that would make her Crown Jewel champion as well :hmm:

My official prediction is Tiffy cashes in Nia.

I got my tickets for the Holiday Tour at MSG the day after Xmas. So excited.

I don't know who's shirt to wear.

I think if she cashes in she won't be winning. Especially if the rumors about Liv/Rhea going all the way to Mania is true.

If the plan is to do Tiffy vs Charlotte then they need to get the belt on Tiffy fairly soon, I don't think she cashes in on Liv, her and Dom's double act is one of WWE's main focuses right now, I don't see that altering.

If Rhea is genuinely injured then obviously Iyo or Zelina would be the choices for me, but I could also see a returning Asuka scaring the hell out of Liv.
