Crown Jewel was a strong show, the Bloodline 6 man tag that opened the show was very much an 80's match, the heels cut the ring off, there was 2 sets of heat playing off the distrust between Roman and Jey. There seemed to be a botch at some point, where Jimmy didn't quite stop a pin, but ultimately it was a clean win that Solo needed, as once again Jacob cleaned house to put him in position to beat Roman.
The woman's tag title match inevitably got a little blotchy, these things are always on the brink of becoming cluster****s, but the match was full of highlights, from Iyo and Bianca starting off with a fantastic exchange, to Jade and Lash really laying the strikes in, to the comedy of Chelsea and Piper that led to the Doomsday device finish from the champs to the spectacular insane elbow from Kairi!
Bronson Reed vs Seth Rollins was booked perfectly, it was a really good monster heel match in the mould of Sting vs Vader, that saw both guys shine and even in defeat Reed looked like an absolute killer.
Owens and Orton went exactly as I expected, this was an occasion where a no contest made perfect sense and builds the feud.
The triple threat for the US title was an entertaining spotfest with a neat finish.
Liv vs Nia was a fun match that descended into run-ins from the supporting cast as expected, Nia has really refined her game on offense and Liv has grown into a great sneaky heel.
Cody vs Gunther was a fantastic pro wrestling match, paced well, everything was snug and crisp, and it built to a great finishing sequence. Corey Graves took the thoughts straight out of my head when he said the way Cody won was reminiscent of Bret Hart beating Roddy Piper at Wrestlemania 8, he also beat Austin with the same sleeper counter at Survivor Series '96. It was a great finishing that doesn't hurt Gunther and avoids the match being ending with cop-out interference.
