A New Era for the Wrestling Thread

Indi Hartwell, Tegan Nox, and Baron Corbin have been released. Indi should have taken the pin instead of Lerae knowing this now.

As for Corbin his contact runs until the end of the year and he's been informed it won't be renewed.

Smackdown was a big step up from Raw, Jey's promo was one of his best one's, I like how they aren't whitewashing Roman's past, and his facials while Jey made his elongated entrance, were great.

Pretty Deadly are an entertaining act and a decent team, their match with the Street Profits was fun and I thought them handing Lin Manuel Miranda the flyers for their musical was an entertaining touch. It's a shame WWE didn't keep them as Nia's Court Jesters.

The women's fatal 4-way was entertaining, Iyo and Bianca did a lot of bumping for Piper and Lash, and the finish was great, Bianca really had to fight to hit the KOD on Lash, and her facial expression as Iyo moonsaulted onto her before she could get the pin was gold! The way Cole talked on commentary it sounds like Lash and Jakara have been called up full time.

The main event was a good tag match, Kaiser unsurprisingly ate another pin, and Owens got a cheap shot in on Orton, the image of Gunther choking Cody out as the refs tried to pull him off, was a great visual to go off air with.

This was a really solid segment to kick the show off, Tiffy has been too much of a doormat recently so it was good to see her fire up, and the time has come for the cash-in. I thought her and Liv had a decent little match as well before Nia wiped out everyone with the MITB brìefcase. Good to see Naomi staking her claim to a title shot afterwards, before her and Bayley had an ok tag match with LeRae and the now released Indi, the final stretch was a bit awkward, but overall the match was fine.

I am thoroughly enjoying Crown Jewel thus far.

The women’s tag match was awesome and Sami should’ve turned on Roman.

I haven't gotten a chance to watch yet. I see it's Reed and Rollins right now

Bronson has moved into my top10 favorites in wwe for his MF Doom gear alone. I mean he's been killing it lately anyway but that scored him points for me.

I feel like the Women's Locker Room is a lot closer in WWE than in AEW and I thought that Natalya was someone that the WWE had to re-sign because of her presence in the locker room as a veteran and the only one left from the god awful Divas Era still around.

How would you guys feel about Gunther vs Goldberg at Saturday Night Main Event?

I finally got to finish Crown Jewel last night. Good show overall. Gunther vs Cody I think was the best match. They need a proper multi month feud whenever one of them loses the title.

Crown Jewel was a really good show. Still think Reed should have won. He'll win the next one imo. Seth can always win the Rumble or get involved in a main event scene ranking easily.

I'm hoping the two Mania main events are Seth vs Punk and Roman vs Rock. Cody can wrestle Orton, that doesn't have to go on last imo.

In my scenario we would get Cody vs Rock at the Rumble, Roman interferes costing The Rock and we'd get Roman and Rock at Mania

But that leaves me with this for Gunther vs Goldberg where he retires Bill.

I think Cody vs Randy for the WWE Title and Seth vs CM Punk for the WHC are best options. Roman vs Rock doesn't need the belt and that can just be for the Bloodline

Crown Jewel was a strong show, the Bloodline 6 man tag that opened the show was very much an 80's match, the heels cut the ring off, there was 2 sets of heat playing off the distrust between Roman and Jey. There seemed to be a botch at some point, where Jimmy didn't quite stop a pin, but ultimately it was a clean win that Solo needed, as once again Jacob cleaned house to put him in position to beat Roman.

The woman's tag title match inevitably got a little blotchy, these things are always on the brink of becoming cluster****s, but the match was full of highlights, from Iyo and Bianca starting off with a fantastic exchange, to Jade and Lash really laying the strikes in, to the comedy of Chelsea and Piper that led to the Doomsday device finish from the champs to the spectacular insane elbow from Kairi!

Bronson Reed vs Seth Rollins was booked perfectly, it was a really good monster heel match in the mould of Sting vs Vader, that saw both guys shine and even in defeat Reed looked like an absolute killer.

Owens and Orton went exactly as I expected, this was an occasion where a no contest made perfect sense and builds the feud.

The triple threat for the US title was an entertaining spotfest with a neat finish.

Liv vs Nia was a fun match that descended into run-ins from the supporting cast as expected, Nia has really refined her game on offense and Liv has grown into a great sneaky heel.

Cody vs Gunther was a fantastic pro wrestling match, paced well, everything was snug and crisp, and it built to a great finishing sequence. Corey Graves took the thoughts straight out of my head when he said the way Cody won was reminiscent of Bret Hart beating Roddy Piper at Wrestlemania 8, he also beat Austin with the same sleeper counter at Survivor Series '96. It was a great finishing that doesn't hurt Gunther and avoids the match being ending with cop-out interference.

Raw was a good show, it followed on strongly from Crown Jewel. Liv has developed into a Miz-like troll heel on the mic, leaning into being as irritating as possible lol, Bianca and Jade confronting her and Raquel played off the backstage segment last week and I think serves a dual purpose, it's sewing seeds of doubt between Jade and Bianca, and it's setting up War Games.

This segment morphed into a #1 contenders battle royal which blended in a number of rivalries and added to the opening segment when Liv & Raquel caused Jade & Bianca's elimination, before the final sequence between Iyo and Valkyria which ended with a spectacular German suplex elimination from Iyo! My early prediction is Iyo vs Liv might not happen until SNME and Iyo will be on a War Games team with Jade & Bianca vs Liv's team at Survivor Series.

One of the stories within the battle royal was Zelina and Ivy Nile that bled into Gable vs Dragon later in the show, what a match this was, easily the best on the show, Gable works brilliantly with any style and Dragon really stepped up a level here, this LWO/American Made feud is good for both factions.

It was good to see Zelina get a promo afterwards, and that she's still focused on that Women's World title.

The Fatal 4-Way main event was a solid match, all 4 guys getting their moments before Bronson Reed arrived and demolished everybody, taking Seth out of the match completely! They are doing a fantastic job of building him, even circumventing the losses with great booking. I'm glad Priest won, the match between him and Gunther at SummerSlam was really good, so I'm all for a rematch at Survivor Series.

I love that Gunther's championship run is about leaving no doubts that he is the best and a worthy champion. There was the controversial pin where Randy's shoulder was up, then taking on the last guy to defeat him clean in Sammi Zayn, now a rematch with Damian Priest who lost because of Finn interference. My personal guess is he'll defeat Priest and while celebrating his victory his next challenger will have their music hit as CM Punk walks to the ring.

The WWE got backlash (no pun intended) from the IWC for another series of shows in Saudi Arabia, accused of selling their souls to the devil to support a country's sportswashing efforts due to Saudi Arabia's recent human rights violations and the murder of a journalist when the deal first started.
