A New Era for the Wrestling Thread

So Pearce did not announce a women's IC championship. Do you think they're waiting for the first episode on Netflix to do it? Or will the new US title float between shows like the women's tag titles?

Edit

Michael Cole said it will be defended across both shows. I'm team Michin for the inaugural champ.
That might only be temporary due to the number of women likely returning soon, including some fairly big names.

I wonder if Alexa Bliss will come back.

Also where the hell has Blair Davenport been?

Alexa has said that she'll be back but right now, she's enjoying life as a wife and mother.

The Gunther and Priest promo that kicked off Raw was good, I liked Priest's Eminem 8 Mile approach of taking Gunther's verbal ammo from him and getting in his head, and this recent teasing of friction between Gunther and Kaiser is surprising, and it's mostly coming from Gunther, which is interesting. 🤔

Nice to see Dakota Kai back, and she got a good response. The 6 woman tag was fast paced and dynamic with a solid win for Damage Control, now they just need Asuka back!

I'm enjoying the feud between Reed and Rollins, shame the rematch won't be at Survivor Series. It was good to see Reed get some mic time, and the segments with Zayn and Solo trying to recruit Seth to be their 5th man at War Games were great, I love how Seth isn't just forgetting his history with Roman.

Bron vs Sheamus next week should be a solid and now they're building friction between Dom and Balor 👀

Priest vs Kaiser and Butch vs Kofi were both decent matches, they've really dragged this angle between Kofi and Woods out, but it feels near it's conclusion, just curious to see if Kofi goes heel with him in a twist.

The main event was short for a tag team title match but it was more about setting up the Women's War Games match with the run-ins, it was great to see Iyo hit the ring explosively, and I loved the little interaction between her and Bianca afterwards, and I like how it took all 4 to topple Nia.

They kicked NXT off in style with Giulia & Stephanie vs Lashkara, it was a good, competitive match that showcased both teams well, Stephanie is so smooth in the ring and Giulia is finding her footing well. It was interesting that in the interview afterwards Giulia and Stephanie both set their sights on the Iron Survivor Challenge, and later on there was a vignette with Zaria doing the same, I'm not sure who that actually leaves to face Roxy for the title at Deadline. 🤔

Speaking of the Iron Survivor Challenge, I like Sol Ruca but it was surprising to see her go over Cora Jade, and in only 3 minutes, they were actually having a good match as well.

On the men's side Wes Lee vs Cedric Alexander was good bar the clunky finish, and Lexis King vs Je'Von Evans was the best match on TV this week so far, great showing from both guys and this new direction for Lexis King is starting to get over.

The match between Nikita Lyons and Rizzo was an insult to bowling shoes!

The tag team stuff that ran throughout the show was bleh, I'm guessing it's leading to a #1 contenders battle royal?

The segment between the Don and Spears was pretty well done, and who was Spears driver?

The Trick/Chase/Ridge promo segment was really awkward, I'm guessing Chase loses his University next week and it gives a chance to freshen up all the Chase U members.

It was good to see the Women's North American title match get the main event and Fallon and Kelani delivered on the opportunity with a good match, once again the interference costs Kelani so I'm thinking maybe a cage match between her and Fallon at Deadline.

A lot of the IWC disagrees with your assessment of the interaction with Bianca and Iyo because it should be "Iyo is a part of Damage CTRL, who have caused Bianca nothing but pain for a long time, so they should not be so nice to each other." I see it differently though, I see it as Bianca doesn't personally blame Iyo (or Kairi or Dakota or Asuka) for what Damage CTRL has put her through and that she was taking orders from Bayley and she still harbors that resentment towards Bayley even though they are both faces.

One of the better things Triple H has done since taking over is going back to old storylines and feuds in new ones via promos. Seth still hates Roman and Bianca still hates Bayley. When Kairi Sane came back, there was hesitation on Bayley's part in letting her in Damage CTRL and that was because Bayley remembered what happened the last time she was in the same ring with Kairi showing the time she attacked Kairi backstage back when she was a part of the Boss N'Hug Connection.

I also thought that Triple H did a great job of getting Pete Dunne his name back by doing the whole "I hated the name Butch" storyline that was the focal point of his feud with Sheamus. Triple H did not insult the intelligence of the fan base by saying that Butch and Pete Dunne are two different people, but that they are the same person and used a storyline to do that, in that Dunne hated the name Butch and he hated everything about it. HBK is kind of doing that with Shawn Spears. When he returned, the WWE's YouTube acknowledged that he has returned to NXT. His WWE profile also said that Spears has returned to NXT, but without directly acknowledging Ty Dillinger. There was also that mini storyline where Maxx Dupri got so angry at the incompetence of Maximum Male Models that he reverted back to his NXT gimmick of LA Knight

Yeah, I've noticed WWE are doing a lot better in not just ignoring the past when someone turns face, even if certain nuances get lost on some, as you say.

Apparently the title is set to be defended on Smackdown and Raw, like the tag titles.

My guess is Candace will win that match.

After a lot of thought I'd be happy with any of these three as the first champ, Michin, Zelina, and Lyra Valkyria.

I'm going with Bayley as I see one of the top stars of the division being in the final......so B-Fab will probably win lol

It was either going to be that or the Rumble and she won't be the last too. Alexa, Asuka, Carmella, Charlotte and Shotzi could also be coming back soon, creating a much deeper Women's division than what they have now.
