A New Era for the Wrestling Thread

The tag team title match and the surprise Gunther vs Axiom match were the highlights of Smackdown, both good matches and another title change, that's 6 in recent weeks, watch out Bron on Raw this Monday! I think putting the belts on the Street Profits is a good call, they're good in the ring with a strong mix of power and athleticism, and they've got more personality than most teams.

Cody’s Miz TV segment was exactly what it needed to be, there's nothing more he can say until he gets face to face with Cena, so he did Miz like Austin did Jarrett.

Orton vs Melo was decent, Randy just walks through matches playing the hits these days, and Melo got some of his athletic offence in before the inevitable RKO.

They tried to get some steam into the Tiffy/Charlotte and Drew/Priest feuds, it kinda worked for Tiffy, she got up on Charlotte for the first time in their brawl, and had the big dive with a lot of crowd support. Drew and Priest executed their stuff perfectly well but when Drew was initially beating Priest up the fans chanted for Punk, and when he doubled back to dish out some more the fans chanted for Drew, the clear issue is that Priest just isn't over enough as a face, it's the same with Jacob and Strowman, fans just don't care about the giant, the sooner Jacob moves on to feud with Knight for the US title, the better.

There was a teaser for Rey Fenix and apparently the other one was for Aleister Black.

The ladies getting some fresh opportunities next week, Zelina and Chelsea is an ideal program for both and I believe Zelina beat Piper to become the 1st ever Queen of the Ring? So a good start. Jade vs Liv makes sense, I mean Liv has a point about how Jade’s silence left her and Raquel to be accused for months, I expect Naomi gets involved here and gets some heat on Jade.

FYI, I think Liv and Raquel defend the titles at Mania, most likely against the IC Champion Lyra and Bayley in which case, Liv and Raquel will win that one. Now there could be a scenario where that match is official for Mania, but in the lead up to it, Liv and Raquel destroy Bayley backstage to the point where Bayley is unable to compete at Mania, which sucks for Bayley. This forces Lyra to find a new partner. Would it be Dakota Kai? I could see it being Dakota Kai, but if the WWE wants to go for it and make Liv have the same reaction as she did in the Chamber when Jade came out and give the match a bigger feel heading into Mania, have Lyra's partner be Becky Lynch.
 
We are getting really close to the point where Becky is not going to be at Mania unless it’s as a surprise run-in… I think she comes back after Mania…

As an American it kind sucks to say it but the foreign crowds are 1000% better… Really adds to the whole show…

Black was released 4 years ago, could be the significance of the 4 in the teaser… Just still hoping that he’s gonna be solo…

What about Roxanne? They've been building her and Bayley's rivalry for the last couple of months. I suppose it could be a 6 woman tag, I just think they're going to scrunch together way too many talents to deliver the actual best matches, instead just getting people on the card for the sake of it.

The Raw after Wrestlemania is always a huge show so I could see Becky returning that night.

I think it's because the fans in Europe see WWE live a lot less, so it's a bigger deal for those crowds.

Ah right, I was wondering what the 4 meant, I was thinking 4 weeks as Wrestlemania is in 4 weeks, but 4 years makes sense.

As a farewell for Roxanne before she leaves NXT and gets a massive pay raise, he has a match with Bayley at Stand and Deliver, although Bayley should be on the Mania card.
 
Also.....Dave Meltzer got blasted for his recent rumors about the WWE ID Program, saying that WWE ID Creative Gabe Sapolsky is heavily involved in the booking of WWE ID wrestlers and that he has a script that dictates how the WWE ID wrestlers should be booked (even against non-WWE ID wrestlers). However, this was refuted by Brett Lauderdale, the owner of Game Changer Wrestling, with one of the more popular Indie promotions Defy Wrestling backing what Lauderdale had to say (which was basically that there was no script to dictate how the WWE ID talent was booked even against non WWE ID talent). One of those ID talents, Zayda Steel was confused about those rumors about WWE ID (btw, she had a match tonight in GCW against non-WWE ID talent Tony Deppen and she lost).

Roxanne had her NXT farewell putting over Giulia and Jordynne Grace, that's how they do it before a talent moves to the main roster, beating Bayley back in NXT really doesn't do anything for either woman.
 
No he isn't. But, he is leaving as a champion.
