A New Era for the Wrestling Thread

Why not just have Becky turn heel on Lyra at WrestleMania?

Simple: her return needed to be a big moment with her holding a belt.

Since Charlotte came back and won the Rumble, Becky had to return and have a Mania moment lol.

Becky Lynch turning on and assaulting her champion protege who previously beat her before would've been a huge WrestleMania moment.

For one thing, they kicked Bayley off the card to make sure Becky Lynch had her WrestleMania moment.

It was apparently booked well in advance and Bayley is an established pro, it's not like she hasn't wrestled at Wrestlemania many times, she won the WWE Women’s title last year at Mania while Becky put Rhea over, that's what top professionals do, just like how Rhea and Bianca put Iyo over this year. If the storyline is that Becky took Bayley out and then the 2 feud over the Intercontinental title that culminates at SummerSlam, I'm sure Bayley will be more than happy, that's putting the bigger picture of the division ahead of having a match just for the sake of it, which is what Bayley is all about.

Looking at how many dates Cena has left, and factoring in the fact he'll likely only wrestle on PLE's, it looks like he'll have 6 defences. I think he'll drop it at Survivor Series and then have his final match in December.

Backlash - Randy Orton

Saturday Night's Main Event -

SummerSlam -

Clash in Paris -

October Australian PLE -

Survivor Series -

I'm curious to see how Black (re)debuts, I think it needs to be more substantial than what they did with Rusev.
I hope so… He should at least get the same treatment the Lucha Brothers are getting… My idea for Black is basically let him cut some Jake The Snake like promos (I say that cuz his promo style reminds me of Jake alittle bit) but with a vigilante twist, kind of hiding out like Crow Sting, stealth attacking heels and hunting them down one by one… He had a “pay for your sins” type gimmick for a minute in NXT, I’d bring that back with him being a Punisher type vigilante…

Anyway, we’ll see, rumor was that Triple H and Heyman were big fans so hopefully they give him a solid role on the roster…

As for Rusev, I don’t know, anytime I see a big guy running through a jobber tag team I assume it will fizzle out and not be taken that seriously… If that continues he’ll just be taking Stroman’s spot… Could be worse I guess but if I’m trying to make it work with Rusev I’m trying to make him more akin to Samoa Joe/Tazz

So was Bret Hart at WrestleMania 9. He still wasn't happy about what went down.

Bret is never happy about anything though, and the big difference is that he didn't get the pay-off from Hogan at SummerSlam, Bayley knows she'll get the pay-off with Becky.

You think he'll be a face? I'm curious to see if he wrestles on Smackdown or if he'll get an angle, and who exactly they book him with first, I'm sure he'll go over Escobar, Nakamura, Andrade etc....the usual suspects, but if they want to really utilise him needs a proper program with someone, I mean if I'm looking at the lay of the land on Smackdown, I'm booking towards Black vs Fatu at SummerSlam for the US title.

Yeah, he was one of Trips gold & black favourites, and I heard Cornette say that Heyman saw Black as the heir to Brock.

Rusev as another Strowman is exactly how I thought that came off as well, I can see an IC title possibility for him, but I don't see him in the main event picture.

Bayley seemed really passive-aggressive about it in her Chris Van Vliet interview

Funnily enough I just watched that earlier, and I noticed she made a comment about how people might feel by the time this interview comes out, and she caught herself. At the end of the day though she'll be a team player and when she beats Becky for the IC title at SummerSlam she'll get the pay-off for her professionalism.

He's still really green, there's a big difference on the main roster.

I'm hoping we see an Iyo run-in to build off Raw

He can get significant in-ring experience being in matches with long term veterans.

Bayley has had awkward moments like that in interviews before. FS1 later deleted the clip from social media.

The problem with Trick Williams is there is nowhere for him to go on the main roster right now. Carmelo Hayes is teaming with The Miz and was competing in the Andre the Giant Battle Royal last week. Where would Trick Williams fit in?

At least in NXT, he's on TV every week and he's mixing it up with Oba Femi in the main events for the title.

Look at Tony D'Angelo. He's been in NXT almost four years. He's still getting used there. There is value to staying in NXT and not moving up yet. Case in point, Cameron Grimes. Dude did great in NXT, had a great character, had success. Moved up to the main roster and then disappeared and got fired.

WWE has a very crowded roster right now and it's only going to stay crowded until they off-load more talent. They released a bunch of people this year and the roster is still crowded. Chelsea Green didn't even get booked at WrestleMania this year and she's the freaking US champ and one of the most over women on the roster.

Look at Melo, he's way more ready than Trick and he's just floating around the midcard, Tricks a big guy who can't eat losses but also can't get by on in-ring work like Melo has. When you bring someone like Trick to the main roster they need to be ready to go as doing jobs isn't a good way to build them.

@Hunter Rider is correct in this case. It's better for Trick Williams to stay in NXT because there just isn't a slot for him right now on the main roster. He'd just be floating and being put in tags with Santos Escobar on the main roster.

Williams is young and fresh. He has time to burn in NXT. He shouldn't be in a rush to leave.

Watching Evolve, the men don't impress all that much who were not NXT veterans or WWE ID talent, but there's one woman in Evolve who could be a threat for either NXT titles in Kali Armstrong. She has the look and charisma, although she needs some polish in the ring, she's not terrible in the ring.

No I don’t think he’ll be a face actually, that’s just my theory for how I would use him… But I don’t know, most of the under card guys they could start him off with on Smackdown are heels so I don’t know…

Escobar/Berto/Garza/Nakamura/Miz/Carmelo/Solo/Andrade are all heels pretty much… Guess it doesn’t matter for a one off debut match…

They’ll have to go bigger to make him fued with a babyface… L.A. Knight, Damien Priest, or Jimmy Uso… Orton’s about to start a program with Cena… and I doubt they’ll throw him right in with Cody or Jey… Plus the last thing he needs is to get fed to one of them as they both can’t lose right away given their situations… Definitely interested to see where they go with it

Honestly... I can't believe the biggest angle in decades (John Cena turning heel) got botched because Rock and HHH can't get on the same page creatively. I call bull**** on the whole "my work is done" thing. You don't walk away from the angle at that point and then leave Cena and Cody to fend for themselves.
