I'm going out on a limb to embarrass myself here. But after reading that they officially are gonna remake "The Crow" it really set me off to think. But all these damn remakes that are just unnecessary, Friday the 13th, Nightmare on Elm Street, The Karate Kid, etc. If your gonna do a so-called "fresh" remake, do something that is real old, or something that sucked but intend to make it better.

That's why I was wondering, what if an online petition was started, and it spread around? A Petition that cried out "Stop remaking classic stuff." Now do not get me wrong, I'm being realistic, I know that doing such a thing will not stop Hollywood from doing what they are doing. But I figure it would as least be worth it to have fan's voices be heard. It would be a way of giving these Hollywood the finger, a way of saying, "Don't be thinking for one second that your doing a fantastic thing, don't you be thinking everyone will fancy the idea of remaking this. You Hollywood jerks only care about money, and only because you can't come up with anything anymore."

Firefly and Angel shows that had their own fanbases. When they where on the brink of cancellation, fans cried out and started petitions. Thoe they did not win to keep the shows going, they did however get mentioned in magazine articles, as being fans who cared and go heard. I personally would love to be a member of a online club that is against the remakes, and if you know if there is one tell me I'll go there. Every person I've told about what's being remade, EVERYONE...has expressed distraught feelings and loathing.

But again, does anyone know what great websites there are?

Remakes are profitable. Whenever they stop being so, they will stop being made so often.

Also, the Friday the 13th remake looks awesome.

That's what I feel as well. Looking forward to that remake too.

I am a huge fan of the Dawn of the Dead remake.

I liked it back in the day but consider it in name only remake. But to back that up futher I own both versions (unrated and rated) and would likely see a sequel one way or another. I just don't consider it the remake it claims itself to be.

a petition is kinda silly because that means that you would have to send one out to every single Hollywood studios out there.

Am I against remakes? Yes and no. If they touch a movie that doesn't need one, then that's when i get p*ssed.

If people stop going to bad remakes, they'll stop making bad remakes. Money is all these studios understand. Online petitions don't mean jack-diddly when the remakes are still making them rich(er).

Petitions are worthless. I still don't see a Daria dvd set anywhere. And that petition has been out forever.

But like it's been said, until people stop paying to see remakes, Hollywood has no plans to stop making them.

why isn't Daria on DVD yet?

Or Muppet Babies? (Maybe because of the extensive Star Wars/Indiana Jones film footage that the show used)

Yep, really sums matters up.

Remakes unfortunately made Hollywood what they are today. The Oscar winning Ben-Hur, a remake. Losing the battle to television (when it was a new invention) Hollywood redid their best movies bigger and better and situated themselves as a powerhouse industry. They won't easily let go of the process. What they have to learn is that as time changes so does taste. Classic film is highly regarded by a growing number of young people. I don't think people want to see them remade anymore. Instead they just remake movies that had good concepts and bad execution. Remakes are good tools when used properly.

Stop the remakes? Don't expect vote from me. We just got the best remake in the history and with that remake the best movie of the 21-st century. Batman begins and THE DARK KNIGHT. Also King kong remake was amazing, so it look's like to be the case with Friday the 13-th and Star Trek. I like remakes. For instance, how could a movie from 40's 50's or 60's be better that a good remake. Sorry but i do like to see movies like Friday the 13-th, Nightmare at Elmstreet, Bonny and Clyde, the birds and more.

You probably label the movie as being bad or boring just because it is from the 40s-60s, but thats wrong. The King Kong remake was not amazing. It was a giant hole for producers to throw money into just so they can make a CGI gorilla. And the pre-21st century filmmakers new more about horror than the hacks who get by on gore and cheap thrills today. If you were too watch NIght of the Living Dead, one of the greatest horror movies of all time, would you turn it off because it is black and white? I can't tell you how many of my friends won't try it because its black and white. Ridiculous!

If you don't like the remakes, don't support the studios by going to see them.

Apperently Jim Henson was friends with George Lucas, so it may not be as big as problem as it seems.

I wish I could sign this but - their are still remakes want done. ,

I'm sorry but some people are just so damn stupid when it comes to online petition and trying to stop movies from ever getting made. I mean when has that ever really stopped anyone.

Do you think studios are going. "oh well, i see theres a online petition to stop is from making this movie, we better stop then' No they're not!

I mean its just a movie, no need to get up and form a angry mob with pitchforks there is always the original people are seeming to forget, and i know that some are gonna say remakes piss all over the old ones. that maybe be but you don't always have to watch them and remakes are for newer generations now who would think if you look back 20 some years or so and think the effects were dumb or something else. You know how the youth of today is. I'm not saying everything should be greenscreen and CGI though. It all depends on the company thats doing the remake.

Petitions won't help at all. Not when the money is big for execs and a petition signed by only a hundred people won't do it.
