A question about shotgun mics for camcorders...

I cant exactly afford a new canon movie camera (xl1 or gl would be niiice), so I have to make due with my canon zr45. My question is: what would you recommend for a microphone? I was looking at this:

But not sure if they're compatible (maybe its universal?). But then, thers also this:

I only a Canon X1 and I don't think either of them are compatable with that...if that's anyhelp. Can't really say for any other camera. But they look like they would be compatable with a ZR45.
