Brett Ratner certainly doesn't try to dig as deeply into the franchise's potential as Bryan Singer; but take "The Last Stand" as all surface, relentless comic book amusement, and it's a vastly agreeable sit.

I felt that way too. The critic shows a ton of reverence for Singer, and that's how I see it as well.

I also like Ratner.
