Horror A "Wolfman" Reboot Already Underway

On a $7 million budget, too. This thing’s gonna make more than its budget’s worth of bank at the box office and then some.

For reference, The Invisible Man earned $144 million worldwide, and that was with a pandemic bringing the world to a temporary halt and cutting its theatrical run short. Just imagine how this is going to end up.

Wolf Man is admittedly a bit basic, and although it attempts quite a bit emotionally, it didn't reach the finish line for me. Still, the body horror stuff is well done, and the film is enriched by excellent sound design and practical effects. The two leads are also strong, but there's a bit missing as far as their characterization goes. This isn't a dreadful, throwaway January horror film by any means, but it's nowhere near the heights of Leigh Whannell's most exciting work.

I hadn't seen those pictures from Horror Nights before so I saw the design for the first time in film, and uh... man was I disappointed. It really doesn't look *that* much better and really lacking.

Can't say I was expecting much going in to the film, and I got relatively that. It's fine, I guess. Pretty basic. Hints of something more interesting there, but doesn't really dive into them all that much. Not to mention overly long with the last 10 minutes being boring as all hell. Shame, as I am a huge fan of the original Wolf Man.

So it's The Fly but Werewolf instead of mutant? It looks like the Wolf Man is a cursed franchise.

Basically yea but rushed. From what I've read it's an alright movie but because because it primarily takes place in 1 night you don't really delve too much into the implications of the body horror transformation like The Fly does.

Also I love the 2010 remake and I don't care what anyone thinks lol

Emily Blunt is in it and she makes mediocre films interesting. Girl on a Train, etc. :o

I don’t know how they got to that number.

This is apparently headed to only 12M.

It's not a gamechanger or anything but I had fun with it. I do agree that having the movie take place in one night probably did more harm than good. It's like The Fly on a speed run. Could've benefited from breathing a bit more.

I really loved the mythos of it and the idea of it being a disease. To that effect, I quite liked the design. Would've liked to see more of an evolution to it. But again, one night.

I thought the prologue was really good. It had that feel of a Nordic/Scandinavian noir thriller. Thinking about it, I wished they had focused on that with the dad and young Blake fighting off the wolf man rather than jumping 30 years later. That would’ve been more interesting.

Probably would have been more Fly-like if they started on a new Moon and as the moon goes through its phases, he becomes more Wolf Man until it's full.

That would've been neat. I'm surprised no one has done something like that.
With the zillion werewolf shows and budget horror movies out there, I'm sure it exists.

I found it lacking and very bland. The characters were way too underdeveloped. Christopher Abbott and Julia Garner also had no chemistry and Garner's character was paper-thin. Was hard to get invested in their characters.

The Blumhouse Universal Monsters experiment has failed IMHO.

Garner seemed bored out of her mind.

That's one thing that bugged me. Rather than shock, she just seemed to passively not care that they were running for their lives from a feral beast. Maybe she was trying to act like she was in shock and this is just how it came out.

I hope it doesn’t stop their James Wan Creature from the Black Lagoon remake as I’m very curious what will do with it.

And I’m curious what the Ryan Gosling version of this originally was before he walked cause of “creative differences”.
