Age of Ultron Aaron Johnson is Quicksilver

I'm more interested in the character development of the two respective QS. Making super speed with today's special effects is really a piece of cake imo, but that alone isn't enough to make QS a great character.

True.

Speaking for myself, I really don't know much about Quicksilver, as a character, aside from what I've seen of him in past portrayals within the previous animated series, and the only thing that I really got from it was that he was Magneto's son, and that he had issues with both his father and sister.

And given on how Magneto won't be referenced, nor addressed, in any way in this film due to the issues with the rights, then that allows the character to break away from that large shadow (imho) and be fully explored.

And I'm kind of hoping that they get some better suits before the "final battle" starts since I think it'd look great to see them geared up for the final battle against Ultron and not just be wearing the outfits that we've seen so far from the set photos.

Purely going off what we have already seen, I gotta say I prefer the more "supernatural" look to Quicksilver's powers in the Winter Soldier end credit scene.

Agreed. Looking at DOFP, this looks like something out of Sky High.

I simply must see a sonic boom at ground level. Or some kind of shockwave. And i want to see a proper speed blitz.

Wow, DOFP's Quicksilver is even lazier than I thought it was going to be. They basically just made him disappear and then reappear somewhere else. And his hair doesn't even move to make it look like he was just going really fast. Is that final product or is it a leaked pre vis thing like the entire Wolverine Origins movie that was leaked?

Unfortunately, that's from a clip Hugh Jackman presented on some tattoo show last night, so it's probably pretty close to final.

What we've seen of MCU Quicksilver so far seems much more imaginative, and rewarding.

That's going to be interesting, but clearly DOFP is not even attempting to go for the QS of the comics. His mannerisms here, are out of line with Pietro of the comics. DOFP is going for a cocky teenager, almost a Jonny Storm type of character. The Pietro from the comics basically had arrogance bordering on superiority to human (as his father thought).

We haven't seen much from AoU, but it appears they are going for more the traditional Pietro and Wanda from the comics.

I'm not even surprised by this as the X-men franchise has done this with several characters, like Colossus. They give him the powers, but his character and personality are more of a backdrop, just a generic guy with power.

It shouldn't be surprising. You can count on 1 hand the amount of characters that the now 7 picture X-Men film franchise has gotten right: 1) Wolverine; 2) Professor X; 3) Magneto; 4) Beast; and 5) Nightcrawler. That's it. Everyone else are just powers.

Not at all. They got more than 5 characters right. :whatever:

Character wise? Yea, okay. I'll give you Liev Schreiber's Sabretooth as a sixth (and the only redeeming quality of Origins), but that's all I can think of.

I like both Quicksilver's looking forward to see both of them in action on the big screen!

Maybe you're not thinking enough then.

Or maybe my standards are higher than "look he has the same name as a comic book character." I have my opinion, you're not going to change it by being snarky and we're getting this thread off track. Agree to disagree.

Pretty much. Mystique and Toad almost make a second hand though.

It should be interesting to see on which film ends up executing Quicksilver's speed better on screen visually and creatively.

While I don't have a problem with this and think it looks pretty cool, I like the MCU's Quicksilver's version better. The silver after image and how he vibrates looks way cooler than the disappear/reappear act there.

Pietro's speed effect in DOFP looks cool, but I really wanted Singer to do something else. It's too reminiscent of Callisto in TLS. MCU Quicksilver's speed is more enjoyable to me so far.

Is Quicksilver sliding to a halt in this pic? That would be so awesome.

DOFP Quicksilver's super speed effect reminds me too much of Callisto's from X3.

Edit: Oops, ThePowerCosmic beat me to it.

I don't know about anyone else, but even with their personal reservations about the characters, it is awesome to finally see the Maximoff twins together in a pic. They really do compliment each other well. :atp:

And I also agree, it looks as if Quicksilver is sliding to a halt. That or he's about to start dancing. :oldrazz:

Well since Marvel Studios and Whedon both have good general tastes, I'm glad that they didn't choose to go the route of the ultimates for the twins regarding that damn stupid incest angle between them.

Yes, because Disney going in that direction with those two was TOTALLY a possibility. :o

This looks like the perfect pose for a Heroclix duo figure.

I wonder how long until Quicksilver accepts Jarvis/Vision as his Brother in law in the future?

I'm just now seeing that the designs on his pants go with the shirt.

I wasn't particularly interested in the realisation of Quicksilver's powers, I mean, how interesting can super-speed be? However...

From what I've seen, the MCU have brought a suitably original element to it. His bursts of speed seem violent, almost involuntary, and he's sweating and evidently in some deal of distress. I can't tell if this is due to the speeding having a destructive effect on him, or due to him struggling over being this ball of energy contained in a confined space. Either way, with what little I've seen I'm interested in Quicksilver going forward.
