Variety reports that ABC has ordered a script from Lionsgate that would adapt The Lincoln Lawyer into a drama series.

Lionsgate will co-produce with Lakeshore Entertainment, which was also behind the film. "Lawyer" screenwriter John Romano and Michael Connelly, the novelist who created the property adapted to film, will co-write the pilot script and executive produce along with Joel Gotler and Lakeshore's Gary Lucchesi and Tom Rosenberg.

Starring Matthew McConaughey, the Brad Furman-directed drama hit theaters in March and went on to earn $75 million worldwide on a budget of $40 million.

McConaughey's character, Michael "Mickey" Haller, appears in five different novels by Connelly.

I loved the book and movie and McConaughey got Haller absolutely spot on, if he doesn't reprise the role, which is unlikely, I can't see this working.

I don't know, these days doing a TV show isn't such a bad thing anymore. I wouldn't be too shocked to see Matthew on TV.
