DC Comics' solicitations for July will be posted here on Monday at 5 p.m. (ET), but Amazon.com is already displaying a cover image and description for Absolute Dark Knight, a collection of Frank Miller's work.

The 512-page book will be in stores on Aug. 30 and will cost $99.99.
Here's how the book is described:

"Hailed as a comics masterpiece, Frank Miller's The Dark Knight Returns -- and its equally provocative sequel The Dark Knight Strikes Again -- get the oversized Absolute treatment in a giant one-volume, slipcased edition!

"This Absolute edition features an extended sketch section from The Dark Knight Strikes Again with commentary by Miller, a look at the plot and pencils from the legendary finale to The Dark Knight Returns, a new introduction by Miller, striking new cover and slipcase art by Miller, and more."

I guess MANY will get this, huh? DKR ABSOLUTE.

Who's gonna get this?

Oh, and don't forget: the solicitations for DC Comics is tomorrow (4/17/06) at 5PM (as stated by the continuum)

gee, yet another rebound release of Millers work. wow. 100 bucks? no thanks, ill stick with my original issues of DKR, and sadly, that piece of crap DKSA. New "commentary" by Miller? why? so he can spew more of his political garbage? guy needs to stay away from Batman. his day is done.

Sadly (because I love DKR & Y1) but you're totally right. He should retire (from Batman) while he was still respected for his early works instead of staying worse and worse... :(

$100 is waaaay to much!!!
I already have all of Miller's Batman stuff:
Dark Knight Returns and DK2, Year One, Batman/Spawn and Batman Black & White. I even have DC Special Series #21 (1979) "Wanted: Santa Claus-Dead or Alive" by Denny O'Neil and Frank Miller.

Personally, I'm buying two. One for my home, and another for my yacht in the south pacific.

And your palaces in Europe are to go without?

Cheap-o.

My European libraries are stacked with nothing but Mark Millar and Il Principe. :(

There's not a chance in hell i'm buying that. I already have the glorious and brilliant DKR and i why the hell wld i want DKSA in LARGE PRINT? It hurts my eyes enough on A4, Miller should **** and walk away. $99 bucks!!! Ahahahaha! Funny.

i like the cover alot...something really cool about it. I think it would look better in Black & White though.

100 bucks is crazy. I have both DKR and DKSA in hardcover editions. I dont really need this or want it...especially for 100 bucks. The extra stuff sounds interesting, but not worth 100 dollars. Now, if both books were never availible in hardcover, i'd consider it. The Absolute Watchmen, yea, no hardcover, so buy the Absolute. But this is ridiculous.

I already have DKR. Don't want DKSA. I'll pass.

Love the cover, but I don't have the money, or I do,but I won't spend it on that. Ill wait a few years and hope that comicshops would sell it with a discount.

Yet he hasn't since he is doing the All-Star Batman and Robin comics...which is bearly hanging by a thread only being saved by Jim's amazing art.

Only a fool would buy this without reading the review first. It's $100 for starters and I know it'll be crap when it says DKSA is an "equally provocative sequel". So they're basically saying this is going to be just as good as DKR and DKSA(which sucked)

yeah so you'll be paying $100 for another DKSA. I'll probably go to the nearest bookstore and read it there and if I'm wrong about it being bad I might "borrow it without asking and never returning". But remember, it's not stealing.

Not to mention, all of Miller's Batman artwork SUCKS BALLS!

...dude. This isn't a new story. It's a new edition of DKR and DKSA.

Apparently reading the review doesn't ward off being a fool.

Least that's the impression...from your post.

I shall write a review of your post. It shall be negative

I would have been tempted to buy this if it was Year 1 and DKR, but I don't want DKSA and I already have DKR in hardcover so I'll pass.

By the way, just because the price in the solicit says $100 you can probably find it down to around $50 at MileHigh or Amazon. They usually have big discounts on Absolute editions.

I was expecting DC to do an Absolute Edition after stories such as Kingdom Come, the Watchmen, and Crisis on Infinite Earths received them. These are for DC's major stories throughout their history and heavily impacted the comic book industry. I may not like the Dark Knight Returns but it's impact cannot be denied. The only Absolute book that did not deserve an Absolute Edition was Batman: Hush. I wonder what book is going to get next. However I never get teh Absolute Editions because they cost way too much.

actually, if you go to Amazon and look it up, the price listed is 100 dollars. Im not sure if that's what the retail price is, or if that's how much Amazon is selling it for. It could change when it's released and then maybe ill consider it if the drop in price on Amazon is considerably smaller.

Oh, I was thinking it was new crap coming from that ol' hack job.

Wow, before reading this, I thought I was the only one who thought Miller was way past his prime
