West Virginia ‘Religious Freedom’ Bill Allows Christians To Break The Law

And we're back with more "religious freedom" laws, but only if your religion is Christian because you know they won't allow Muslims, Buddhists, Sikh's or any other religious belief get away with crimes.

New report outlines NFL interference in concussion research

This is a different kind of abuse of power. The short story is the NFL promised to donate $100 million dollars then reneged on it, gave it to NFL-biased scientists and doctors or otherwise hampered the research into the damage caused by playing football.

This means that the players who are in the NFL are not getting proper treatment or medical care because of the greed of the owners who don't want to acknowledge their culpability.

Justice Department suing Ferguson over deal, attorney general says

At last some good is coming from the abhorrent actions of the police in Ferguson. This is still a developing story so the reporting on it is still incomplete.

Former L.A. sheriff Baca to plead guilty to lying during jail investigation

More police abuse and corruption finally being punished. Although it is a slap on the wrist at least it is a sign it will no longer be tolerated. I hope in the future that more severe punishment is doled out when the police abuse their prisoners.

Michigan Legionnaires' deaths were preventable, official says

Sounds like Michigan decided to stick its head in the sand, deny there was a problem and kept going "lalalalalala" while the people of Flint suffered. Then denied the CDC or other health officials from looking into the cause.

If ever there were criminal action by state officials I'd say this qualifies.

Texas cop indicted for searching car of activist filming the police

At least this is in response to the abuse of power by a police officer, not an attempt to cover it up for once.

New York Conservatives Want To Reach Into Poor People’s Grocery Carts And Tell Them What To Buy

Now we're telling people what they can and cannot do. Does this sound kind of exactly the anti-thesis of what Republicans claim to be against?

"We want less government control and snooping into our business. Unless we're the ones doing it."

So poor people using social programs can't eat tasty food?

Why don't people point out that half the people on food stamps are the working poor who do America's crappiest jobs for slave wages?

AT&T sues Louisville to stop Google Fiber from using its utility poles

An abuse of power by a technology company to prevent competition from being competitve. What? Competition spurs innovation and lowers costs? Say it isn't so. Millions of dollars of AT&T's hard lazily earned profits might be at stake.

One year later, net neutrality still faces attacks in court and Congress
FCC’s Title II and muni broadband rulings face uncertain future.

Right on the heels of the above is even more technology company lobbying to keep the status quo of all the profits and no competition or fair practices. "Screw the consumers. We don't want them to have choices."

Report finds BBC allowed sexual offenders to operate with impunity

And one final chapter of depravity abusing power for now. This is one that should never have been allowed to perpetuate but the higher ups didn't want to be embarassed or lose their stars so they permitted it. And other staffers who knew or suspected it were afraid of themselves being reprimanded or fired for exposing them.

How the hell will they justify this one? Both were unconcious and there is a claim of seeing a gun but not a confirmation there actually was one. So they think they saw a gun and shoot two people who were about as defenseless as possible.

These High School Football Players Have Been Charged With Assault During Hazing Ritual

I see "hazing" undergrads as an abuse of power when it involves holding them down to assault them. Hence why it is here. I see using a broomstick to rape them as a sex crime that should not be rephrased or relegated to "nicer" language like physical assault because it's ****ing rape whether they used their ***** or not.

They should be registered as sex offenders because it's what they did.

Baltimore school cops charged with beating boy after video goes online

Once more video is showing police officers misbehaving that likely would have been covered up or denied. Worse is this is not the first time they have been caught abusing their power.

Fearing no punishment, Denver cops abuse crime databases for personal gain
A nurse complained she got a phone call from an officer at a hospital crime scene.

These are the people we're supposed to trust with this information blatantly abusing it for their own ends. And they question why people distrust them.

It is pretty old hat now to learn the Catholic Church has been found harboring and hiding more pedophiles and sex offenders. But it still needs to be reported on.

Cops charged after pot shop’s hidden cameras show them eating snacks

Their defense is literally they were caught on camera after they thought they had disabled all the cameras and therefore their privacy was being violated so the evidence should be thrown out.
