Okay i know when you say action hero u think of Arnold Schwarzenegger, Sylvester Stallone, Jean Claude Van Dam, and Bruce Willis.

but if you havent noticed they are getting old and the next generation of kids wont know who they are.
so who do u think people will think of as action heroes in the future?
i really really enjoy Jason Statham

Dwayne Johnson AKA The Rock

I agree with Statham.

I can't honestly commment on the Rock, I haven't seen any of his movies besides the Scorpion King. Is the Run Down and Walking Tall worth viewing?

What else has he been in?

jason staham is an action actor.
but what is rock...i dont know.

Yeah, didn't give that the time of day, either...

I didn't hear anything good about it...

the run down is one of the best all around action comedies of the last 10 years or so.

kate beckensdale [as the vampire seline]

What about Tony Jaa? Or is there a extra category for martial arts action stars?

Thank god... someone said Tony Jaa.

Just watch him kick the lightbulb in the Protector, if that doesn't scream Action Hero, what does?

I was just thinking about this and the lack of new great action heros is worrying . I mean, Jason Statham is fine, but he is nothing compared with Bruce Willis, Arnold and Stallone.

Right now, the best one is Kiefer Sutherland

Okay, he's impressive, but Willis, Schwarzenegger, and Stallone were actually in good movies.

The Protector would've been a whole lot better if they had just cut out the ******ed ****ing 'plot'. That movie annoyed the **** out of me.

Who the hell are these softies you guys are posting? A wrestler? A old keith sutherland?

good lawd.

Where's Arnold when you need him, or Norris, or bruce, or stallone....

the rock fights in fake matches where he coreographs his eye brow movements as much as his fake punches and kicks. He'll never be able to fight a predator one on one and win, and scorpion king was crap.

Bauer's a puss compared to rambo.

And deliveryman? What is he, ups? transporter or whatever... who cares about him and his lame fights. Wow, he fights a bunch of stunt guys in carefully coreographed action scenes in some bland action movies. Diesel's at least created a somewhat iconic character in Riddick.

In the age of CGI movies, old school action movies are really dead so this thread's done.

don't be so sure that the action hero genres dead folks

Sure, it ain't dead. But it'll probably never reach the greatness of the Schwarzenegger, Stallone and Willis era again.

Dwayne Johnson is really cool, I hope we see him in more big action movies! I haven't seen Doom yet, but I liked him a lot in The Rundown.

Vin Diesel is cool too. He's been in a lot of crap, but the Riddick movies were really good, and his new Hannibal the Conquerer movie sounds like it could be great.

Tony Jaa is definitely a shoe-in for the next Jackie Chan or Bruce Lee. The Protector had amazing fight scenes, and they had no wires, no CG, and some very long lasting camera shots (rather than "rapid-fire editing" like in a lot of crappy action films). Hopefully we'll see him get some chances with big projects.

No its not dead its only a little dorment. Everything in Hollywood runs in a cycle. Give it 10 or 20 more years and we'll have 80's type action films again.

That Vin Hannibal the Conquerer movie isn't happining anymore. Its now going to be an animated seires on BET.

^ Um, care to provide a link to back that up? Because last time I heard, they were already deep into filming.

think john cena will fall into this catagory if the MARINE leads to more action films?:ninja:
or for that matter matt damon
