There are tons of action movies with female leads.

Alien 3 wasn't action, it was a *****ty horror film.

The first one that came to my mind. Such a great movie!

It's sad how Renny Harlin's career went downhill from there, with Deep Blue Sea, Driven and Exorcist: The Beginning. He's now stuck to make teenie genre movies for Screen Gems.

I agree! But I put it up there anyway, because Ripley is so badass that I couldn't list just one Alien film.

I started watching Alias (rented all the seasons) and boy, I was surprised at what it was all about cause this show has everything - even Jennifer Garner and can i tell ya that she looks great in anything? I don't know where to begin but I admit, she's my fave actress who does a great job of portraying different aliases for different missions and such and especially when it comes to herself as Sydney vs personal stuff. She's so cool and funny. Strange sometimes lol.

I like the whole spy drama genre and the C.I.A stuff. I like the relationship between Syds and her father, her relationship to Vaughn (especially in season 5- aww damn) and... wow - just about everything.

amidala does more action scenes than leia ever did in the prequels. Leia fires a gun a couple of times and runs a bit.

The women in those are not the stars, Catwoman is the closest. But Mai just had one real scene and all Lucy really did was step on feet and futilely attempt to escape. Leia barely did anything. LOTR was definiely guy centered, I don't think anyone would say the women are the main character.

While these are the only movies in your list that star women, they are horror movies, not action movies. And as anyone would tell you, women are like 90% of the time the main character in a horror/slasher movie.

The problem is that most action flicks starring women use that as the sole gimmick. "She's hot, she's a babe, and she'll kick your ass!" I think Ripley is the only one that was honestly the most fleshed out.

Have none of you seen Ultraviolet??? Nothing any woman has done tops that as far as badassness. Almost every scene utilizes a different style of martial arts. The chase scene of helicopter vs motorcycle is the sickest ever. The movies ends with a sword fight where the blades were on fire. And to top it off Milla Jovovich looked amazing through the whole movie.

Yeah but all that doesn't stop the film from sucking hardcore.
