Alright, so I would like to say something. Everyone is blaming Brett Ratner for the story and characters treatment in X3... and he does take responsibility for accepting the role of director after Bryan Singer and Matthew Vaughn stepped out... but if you actually look at the details, the story of X3 was shaped by Matthew Vaughn (director of First Class), Simon Kinberg (writer of Days of Future Past), Zak Penn (X2 writer), and many of the same producers of all the X-men films; Kevin Feige, Ralph Winter and Lauren Shuler Donner. Bryan Singer probably had some influence in the early stages as well... When Brett Ratner came in, it was so far into the game, he was basically taking what was already established and filming it, with adding a little bit of his own input. But the script was actually established more from people who everyone is actually praising. But in reality, all of these people are to blame for the weaknesses of X3, I know it's easy to just pin it on the scapegoat but it's foolish to think that he was entirely to blame. Brett Ratner doesn't even know anything about the X-men comics, if you listen to his Commentary with Simon Kinberg (doing this movie) he is ignorant. All of the ideas of killing characters, or plot points came from other people, not Ratner himself. And yes X3 is part of the continuity, why wouldn't it be just because you didn't like it. I've said this in other posts, franchises have to accept the bad sequels/prequels as well. I'm super excited Ellen Page, Shawn Ashmore and Anna Paquin are back, super excited. Hopefully Anna Paquin actually gets her powers (because the cure isn't permanent, as you see from Magneto, and by powers I mean at least super strength) and Ellen Page gets to shine some more as Kitty Pryde.
