The Last Jedi Adam Driver as Kylo Ren (VIII)

I'm getting the impression that Kylo will increasingly become more damaged--both physically and mentally. And the sequence featuring him twisting his saber in the teaser is closer to the end of The Last Jedi with his battle between either Rey or Luke (probably the latter) which sees him getting really hurt which leads to him being more of a cyborg by Episode IX. My only issue with this theory is Kylo getting his butt kicked two movies in a row doesn't look very good on his part.

Edit: Never mind he has the scar.

Edit 2: I wonder what scene this is from? I assumed he would be pointing that saber at Luke or Rey but there isn't any standing structures on Ahch-to that could burn like that.

If he is pointing that saber at Leia during a raid on the Resistance base...ooo that would be a chilling moment.

I don't think he'll be taking a loss this film, at least not in the same way he did in VII. But the destruction of one's body is part and parcel of being a dark side user.

The scar does look like it's in a different place, at least the top part. It was basically between his eyes, on his forehead in TFA. In the black-white picture it looks more like it does in TFA.

I expected the scar to be bigger, I like that it's a bit more subtle. But please no "Kylo loses a limb and becomes a cyborg" that's already been done so many times. I'd rather has his emotions change his course rather than injuries.

Maybe inflicting lightsaber wounds will be the new "looses a limb" for this trilogy. Kylo got it to the face, and Finn got it in the back. Maybe Rey will get a lightsaber wound in TLJ?

That's fine with me, at least it's different.

So judging by the way the scar has healed, we'll be getting a time jump at some point in the movie.

I hope we get some conflict for chewie pertaining to Kylo Ren. Remember Kylo is the son of his former best friend, so i'm sure as he grew up Kylo looked to to Chewie as a sort of big brother/uncle type figure. It will be interesting to see if they explore how chewie feels about his potential god son/nephew…killing his best friend.

While there well may be a time jump the scar would not necessarily be an indication of it. The SW universe has various medical tech, not least of which is the healing agent called Bacta, which would fix up Kylo faster than our medical methods would or could.

Let's say it this way, injuries that would leave us with scars in our world are probably not even visible anymore after being treated in the SW universe. Especially with bacta. So the lightsaber wound was probably pretty bad, so as a result he has a scar.

Isn't a time jump pretty much a given just by how much Rey has been training? That on to of Kylo and Finn's injuries.

I Think people forget about this stuff sometimes (dunno how they forget though). Not to mention perhaps Snoke was able to heal him in some way. If he is a very powerful force user of some sorts.

We gotta keep in mind that we might not even get that beautiful shot in the movie. Star Wars trailers have become notorious for doing that to us lol.

Also, remember how Vader's neck was fixed in the actual film of Rogue One compared to the trailers? We might also get that here. Maybe Kylo's scar is more vicious looking but they'll fix that up in post production. Maybe they felt having that makeup hindered Adam's performance/facial expressions so they'll add the rest of it in post. It's very possible, we just have to wait and see!

I get the feeling Kylo takes his helmet and grandpas, and Magneto/ Christine Style Force welds them together.

Eh it's just a movie, and like what many have said, there's always been some inconsistencies throughout the series, including the old ones.

Rian has confirmed that TLJ begins immediately after the end of TFA. There could be a time jump after the opening scene tho. The film may just present the passage of time with a training montage or the film could convey the passage of time by having Finn ask Poe how long he has been in a coma. Poe could say he's been in a coma for weeks or months.

We can only hope we get a training montage as epic as this:

Speaking of time jumps; do we know of how long Luke was training with Yoda in ESB? Maybe the events in TLJ will progress in a similar way. The Dagaboh scenes made it seem like Luke had been there quite some time, but Han Solo being chased by the Empire made it seem like a few days at most had passed.

With ESB, I've read a bunch of different things about the amount of time that passes. Some people say only a few days passed, others say a week, others say multiple weeks, or even months.

It's always been ambiguous, intentionally so. It always seemed like a relatively short amount of time to me. A matter of days.

I always looked at it as, for everyone on the Falcon, it was a couple of days, but because of the way time works on Dagaboh months passed by for Luke and Yoda.
