The Last Jedi Adam Driver as Kylo Ren (VIII)

I'd say don't. Make him die like a punk.
Part of me agrees, but man, poor Leia :funny:. Kylo killed Han Solo (:cmad::csad:), his own dad. Luke couldnt kill Vader and viceversa. That alone to me puts Kylo in the un-reedemable path :oldrazz:. But let's see what happens next. I'm looking forward to getting to know more of him and how he got to this.

To add to that I just watched TFA with JJ's commentary and he has some interesting things to say about Kylo.

We knew that Rey's background was originally going to be in TFA but was pushed back to VIII for Rian.

But now JJ added some more info to that.

Originally we were going to see the background of the Knights of Ren and Ben but he said they decided to save that for VIII as well. It seems like a lot of us figured the original "Force back" with Rey was much longer and going into more detail.

As for the death of Han Solo it was interesting to hear JJ say that Ben did not think he would actually go through with it when the conversation started, but the darkness and anger swelled up and he kills his own father hoping to gain Snoke's trust and respect. But that in that moment at the end he does regret what he's done. Which you could see that on his face.

A lot of what he said confirms what I always felt but it kind of adds to that duel on blind anger that Ben is feeling and he's taking all his personal frustration to what he did out on Rey and Finn.

Yeah, I never doubted for a second that Kylo regretted killing Han. That regret and guilt also contributed to him not being on his A game when he fought with Rey.

That's interesting about the Knights of Ren and Rey's back story because I either forgot or didn't realize they were originally going to do that in TFA.

This is great to hear, thank you for posting this!

What hasn't really crossed my mind up until now has me so pumped for Episode 8; everyone's dying to see what happens next regarding Rey and Luke. What will their conversation be like, what will be said? But I'm actually more amped to see what happens next for Kylo Ren. Episode 8 is supposed to take place right where TFA left off, which means we'll most likely see a beaten and shameful Kylo return to Snoke, still in shock that Starkiller Base has been destroyed, and the scavenger girl beat his ass, but that he just murdered his own father!

This isn't going to be a situation where some time has passed and we'll pick up a few months or years later, this will be all fresh and new for our antagonist and I for one can't wait to see what they do with him in EP 8!

Yes I definitely got all that from Adam Driver's performance. It was a very good performance and character.

Driver is great. I'm glad more people outside of Girls fans are finally noticing.

Any good descriptions of his helmet? I can do a police style drawing of it if we have some detailed descriptions. None of that "It looks like the one in the Force Awakens except the face is different" stuff, like specific details.

I haven't seen anything about the helmet. Just that he's either wearing Vader's cape, or a cape like his.

I really hope he just has a spare helmet stored somewhere or something. Vader's outfit changed so little throughout the movies you can't even notice. I'm ok with some slight differences but changing his look everytime would make him less iconic. Vader's face is so iconic it is used on so much merchandise. That would not of likely happen if he had a different mask with each film.

I believe MSW said that he does have the same helmet as he did before. They talked about it when the Ireland pictures leaked a long while back.

I wonder how his scar is going to look? I can't wait to see that.

Yeah I always figured that Kylo would've made himself more than just the one helmet.

Aw, he looked so emotional when talking about her :(

Ren was my favorite part of the movie. Loved how unstable he is. He should be, he is a Skywalker without being the son of Luke. Daddy issues, and probably bitter that his father isn't legendary.

Loved it

^Agreed, Rey, Kylo, and Finn are my trifecta in the new trilogy. I like Poe, just not as much as Kylo.

after rey defeated kylo without any training I wonder how they're gonna have Kylo be a credible threat for Rey and the rest. I know he still has to finish his training but Rey is starting hers unless he suddenly becomes incredibly powerful. I hope they find a logical way around that.

If they can create a whole entire flawless hand with fingernails and everything, I'm surprised a dude would have to live with terrible facial scars.

While Luke trains Rey (Yoda style) to be calm, at peace, passive, let go and face everything she fears to lose or confront.
Snoke trains Kylo to cling to all his fears and insecurities, and when he doesn't get his way, use the powerful art of the tantrum!
That is some cosmic level s----!.:funny:

LOL, sorry unless Kylo gets yet another new deus ex machina level power upgrade we conveniently haven't heard of yet, Kylo doesn't stand a chance against her.

I think in the end theirs shouldn't be just the physical battle (other than for a brief action scene to show off his new, new powers) , but ultimately a mental one, where the only way to "defeat" her will be to sway her to their side.
Convince her however briefly, that Luke betrayed her. That is where Kylo(and whatever damage they did to him)'s chances lay.

There was context to that fight. He was emotionally unstable and was bleeding out.

He DID defeat Jedi in Luke's new order. Next time they fight, he'll probably have a better showing.

But back to the character. Ben was easily the best character of the movie. He is the jealous skywalker, the runt of the skywalker lineage since his parental connection to the force was never trained.

He acted like a male borderline personality which makes sense. Ben doesn't have a stable identity, and his emotions are unstable. He's borderline
