EXCLUSIVE: Following a competitive auction that saw several studios chasing the package, A24 has landed the action thriller Onslaught with Adam Wingard on board to direct. The film is reuniting writers Wingard and Simon Barrett and returning to Wingard’s roots where they made a name for themselves with films like You’re Next and The Guest..

Aaron Ryder and Andrew Swett will produce under their Ryder Picture Company (RPC) banner alongside A24, Alexander Black for Lyrical Media, Wingard and Jeremy Platt under their new shingle Breakaway Civilization, and Simon Barrett. Lyrical’s Jon Rosenberg and Natalie Sellers will serve as executive producers with A24.

Plot details are being kept under wraps but the film is in the vein of Wingard and Barrett’s cult classics like The Guest and You’re Next. Lyrical Media and A24 will co-finance. A24 will handle worldwide releasing. Principal photography will begin in Fall 2024.

Many details for Onslaught are being kept in an underground experimental facility, but sources describe it as a gonzo action horror thriller. The scope is said to more in line with Wingard’s earlier movies, which were all original creations, before he went off and made the big-budget spectacle hits Godzilla vs Kong and Godzilla x Kong.

According to sources, Arjona will play a mother who falls back on a particular set of skills in order to protect her loved ones after she runs afoul of a threat that has escaped a secret military base.

Stevens was in the last Godzilla x Kong movie with Wingard also and was great. They seem to like working with each other.

Just when the cast couldn’t get better, they drop this! Awesome!

Michael Biehn, the actor who starred in James Cameron’s iconic 1980s movies The Terminator andAliens, is returning to studio movies.

The actor has spent the last couple of decades working in the low-budget thriller space outside the Hollywood mainstream, but has now joined the growing cast of Onslaught, the action thriller that Adam Wingard is directing for A24.

Reginald VelJohnson, the Family Mattersactor who is also remembered for his role in action classic Die Hard, and comedian Eric Wareheim (Tim & Eric) have also signed for the feature, which gets under way this month.
