From Kal-El.org:

"MovieTickets.com said Friday that it was selling three times more tickets to "Superman Returns" five days before its opening than it did for "X-Men: The Last Stand" at the same point in that movie's sales cycle. And Fandango said Friday that 25% of all tickets it was selling that day and the day before were for "Superman Returns."

:supes:

Anyone who thought this film wouldnt be a success needs to be slapped...

it's because this is the first of the only 2 big movies of the summer.

The great thing is with Superman being the first and POTC coming so soon, like a week later.

Alot of casual movie goers wont have the vested interest to go through the whole process of hyping themselves up and buying advance tickets again within such a short timespan.

If Superman came after POTC within a week of POTC's release, it would have been doomed.

Man, the IMAX theater is 20 miles away. I wanna see it there first, but my buddies don't get out of work until late and we might not be able to travel up there to catch it. I guess the regular theater will have to do tomorrow night...

I have 2 tickets for Weds night.. I think this is great as it really shoves all the hype around MI 3 right down the toilet where it should have stayed :)

I have tickets for tomorrow night for a regular theater, but I have to see what my weekend is like before I buy my IMAX 3D tickets.

Superman come on ROCK ON , come on ...

Superman is an US-American ICON, worldwide known.

Superman is a positive character loved by young and old.

Superman is TRUTH,JUSTICE and the AMERICAN WAY of LIFE.
Where is the TRUTH nowadays ? Liars everywhere.

Superman is the modern HERCULES, an antic HERO. Pure, majestic and positive.

He is everything what people identified with the USA.
Everything what BUSH isnt. Somehow I identify Luthor with Bush. Sorry , dont want talk about politics, but I am so happy he is back.
I hope every single US-American is gonna watch this movie. Superman is POSITIVE. There is too much Negativeness around the WORLD. There is something GOOD. SUPERMAN an US American ICON, a HERO and far more than that.

WELCOME BACK. Hope its gonna rock the box office into Space.

The film also emphasises the core of American values; family.....or the need for family, the search for one.

Stuff that will definately resonate with the mainstream audiences.

Superman will rule the summer.

f**uck the silly pirate movie.

I liked that Singer didn't take every opportunity to bash America either in the film or outside it during interviews. Instead, he put it that America doesn't always do the right thing, but what Americans want themselves (and their intentions) to be like is embodied in the values of Superman. It seems nowadays that every big mouth politico-wannabe celebrity likes to jump on the "it's hip to hate the U.S." bandwagon just for exposure value. So kudos to Singer for still being open-minded.

Yes. Even though america does suck right now, its lame that alot of movies take the time out to make lame jokes on the bush administration. I'm glad SR is leaving that out, so people of any political orientation can watch and enjoy the movie

I'm kind of annoyed the advance tickets did so well because half of my group can't go because some couldn't buy tickets until 4 or 5 days before the 27th release. At my imax theatre it sold out 6 DAYS before it's 27th release date. Glad I got tickets the day they were made available

I want to feel bad for you, but you're seeing it tomorrow. I will only be able to say that in two weeks... :(

Why use this film as a platform to bash the current White House administration? The 2 have absolutely nothing to do with another, but I'm glad that people take any chance they get to bash the PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA.

Let's just put Jihad Kerry in the Oval Office and see what happens then...

This is the movie I'm going to see on my next day off, whenever that is.

Hilarious - you say making lame jokes of political nature are bad and then you go on to say America sucks right now?

The black kettle is indeed your best friend it seems.

I do agree this is good timing for a Superman film to be released based on the character itself standing for Truth, Justice, and The American Way - I'm not surprised at all be the advanced ticket sales.

Hopefully this movie will break the weekend record, both the weekend and 5 day.

Hopefully the movie will have staying power.

That's gonna be the big question mark.

That wasnt a joke-- America is in a bad way right now. certaintly not as bad as say, the late 60's or much of the 70's, but things arent good currently.
