Just watch lol. I'll be in the front row of the theatre day 1 lmao'ing at how much this ****'s gonna be ****'d up royally, and lol'ing hard at everyone who hated on The Amazing Spider-Man 1/2

They're going to turn Peter Parker into a Big Bang Theory character, calling it right now and they'll cast that butter kid. Will be full of lame jokes and be kiddy as hell. Come back to this thread after the movie is released.

Lmao @ everyone thinking the Marvel deal was a good idea, Sony was GOAT on their own

:hehe:

Well, TASM2 is already my favorite Spidey film so it'd be hard to top it.

I like TASM2 as well, but I'm a bigger fan of the character and his future. If Marvel made a Spider-Man film akin to The Winter Soldier's quality, I'm be thrilled.

That's basically my standpoint on TASM 1 and 2.

I called this the second I got outa the theater after seeing TASM2, having already read all the atrocious reviews for it. I couldn't understand why the movie was panned so bad, and said as soon as this particular era of CBMs is over, and people aren't looking at the movie compared to or in the context with the 'MCU,' it will be MUCH more enjoyed and loved. I loved part 1 as well

Now idk if this new SM will be quite as bad as you say, but I will say I was against Spidey joining this particular MCU, and I have some degree of fear for those particular things you mentioned above happening, but I'm gonna hold out hope that I still love this iteration of the character as well

See, I thought TWS was good, but I could rewatch TASM2 over and over before ever really wanting to rewatch Cap2. That's my fear about Spidey in the MCU. Marvel puts out 'solid' movies, but nothing that really 'sticks' with you and hits you deep down. I know this is just my opinion, but aside from IM1 (Tony struggling with how he was currently living his life, and how he could/should be living it was great), what character development has any Marvel character really gone through? Nothing at all like what Peter went through in Raimi's SM1 and 2 (and even 3), or Peter in TASM1 and 2.

MCU films generally have been entertaining, but their characters seem more the catalyst for the 'events' in the film, instead of being the plot and 'events' themselves. Their movies are about big events, things that happen, and not as much about the characters, which I find somewhat off-putting

I have faith in the story Marvel wants to tell with this new Spider-Man, but it really all hinges on the casting. I don't want a little kid spider-man. I want someone that can be youthful yet be scene as spider-MAN. Not Spider-BOY.

I didnt think ASM1 was perfect but really thought they would correct any miscues in part 2 and all they did was create more and kill the natural progression of the series mostly due to the parents stuff bogging down the story, Spider-Man being absent through about 40 minutes of the film and shoehorning the death of gwen/harry goblin in were all poor choices made at the top.

This series COULD have truly been great with a better plan and writing. Alas, ill always think Andrew was the perfect on screen spider-man and good Peter Parker betrayed by scripting/character issues.

Fixed this for you guys.

no I had zero faith in anything Sony was involved in because they literally destroyed their biggest franchise with poor decision making across the board.

The Spider-Man franchise is still Sony's; they just get to play in Marvel Studios' sandbox now.

I definitely don't think they'll be considered cult classics. Those who like TASM and TASM2 might appreciate them even more, but that's as far as it will go I think.

I think Andrew Garfield will remain highly under-appreciated even though he wasn't perfect. Maybe, if Asa Butterfield is cast in this reboot, people will think "Uhm...Andrew wasn't bad after all!".

If you think Sony has anything to do with the path their spider-man films will take other than having ownership of them and so forth you are mistaken. The reason they joined forces was because they needed help coming up with a plan that wouldnt ruin the franchise/characters value to them any further.

[EMPEROR PALPATINE VOICE]No, it is you who are mistaken[/EMPEROR PALPATINE VOICE]

As has been covered ad nauseum (to the point that everybody's sick of hearing it), Sony would not have negotiated a deal wherein they retain full control of the Spider-Man IP, particularly full production, financing, marketing, and distribution rights to the character's films, only to turn around and turn the creative direction of said films over to Marvel Studios, which has zero involvement whatsoever in said films.

howabout no. The whole point was in fact to get Marvel to chart the course of Spider-Man and Marvel wouldnt do it if they had to have Sonys horrible decision making and ideas muck up all they have worked so hard to create.

Pay close attention to the part of those articles where it says that Sony retains full and final creative control of Spider-Man and is solely and independently responsible for producing, financing, distributing, and marketing the 2017 film.

Also pay close attention to the part of those articles where it says that Marvel Studios - as a corporate entity - does not share in any of the profits from the 2017 film or any other Spider-Man film(s) that Sony makes going forward.

Also pay attention to the part of those articles where it says that Sony's already-planned Spider-Man spinoff projects are still in development and are not expected to have any involvement from Kevin Feige.

Why why why do you have to bring them s to every thread? It's pretty much just derailing threads now. It's annoying as hell man that every thread I go i this section you've derailed with your obsession with this debate.

There's a real easy way to get me to be quiet on this issue: stop misrepresenting and misinterpreting the situation.

Keep believing those sony saving face press releases if you want. I think it's weird how much you care so much about Sony having creative control when they have ruined plenty of the spider-man movies already. But hey man whatever makes you happy, maybe you can get a job being their PR person or something...

If you're gonna troll, at least do it well.

Butterbones hasn't been cast yet. At least he looks like a teenager instead of a middle aged man. He's not my first choice for the role, but it could have been a lot worse.

Spider-Man 2 will always be the best Spidey film! And until RT tells me otherwise, it shall remain that way :)

Crazy eh? 237 fresh and 16 rotten reviews. The movie is amazing and deserves all the praise it got.

I love everything about SM2 :ilv:
Sony had everything nailed at that point. The drama, action, romance. They had it all pitch perfect.
