Its nice how people like to ignore the precedents established in the previous films involving mutants in the real world.

if you guys honestly think days of future past is to complicated for movies, and fans, good luck trying to explain that everything that they have herd, and seen in the first three xmen movies dosen't take place, because in reality...

    professor x is dead

    magneto leads the xmen

this mutant who has been around for hundereds of thousands of years from egypt and who is immortal is runnning the universe

if you think that days of future past can't be done then good luck doing AoA i think both are fantastic stories, and i would like to see both, but i just don't see anyway possible AoA gets made into a movie

I still think days of future past would be a better non sequel movie. It would be proffessorX's vision or prophecy and his personal battle. But have him in a way turn round present time with the X-men to turn situations around to stop it coming. No time travel just Prophecy of the future. Very Holi Spirit inspired it sounds.

hmmm i suppose, i still think it would be less cool with out the time travel because that is what i like best about it, and you could introduce cable and bishop, it would be tough to give two of there coolest charters their proper due with out time travel but hey another xmen movie, is another xmen movie

Days of Future Past needn't follow the comics or cartoons word for word, frame for frame. Nothing else has done so in the movies.

You could say the same about the Phoenix saga: 'Ooh no, space travel and aliens and a woman devouring a star just wouldn't work". But they are making it work by taking the essence of the story - a mutant's evolution, and descent into insanity...

Days of Future Past could easily be adapted: Bishop is a cop who is a mutant able to absorb energy. That includes 'chronal energy' (= time). When he absorbs time energy, he has visions of the future, flashes of a terrible future in which he sees the gravestones of the X-Men and the dark terror of a Sentinels-run world. The nightmare visions gets stronger, he decides to find out who the names are on the gravestones in his visions, he teams up with the X-Men to stop present-day events triggering the future he has seen. No time travel, just horrible visions of the future and a race against time to stop that future happening.

^^ And that's obviously my idea. But they can use it as long as i could somehow be involved! Give me a chance, moviemakers :)

jesus christ man...you have given that some thought...

hmmm, i still like the fact that bishop feels guilty for hunting mutants for so long in the future...haha i dunno i am trying to find excusses to leave the time travel in there

it's not like time travel is a new topic unbeknowist to anyone who isnt an xmen fan, i think the general public will have an idea of what is going on, and be able to follow the movie, at least bishops story the should....you bring cable into it, then you got two different futures i think it could get difficult (i still am in favor of saying screw the general public as i always have been, but money is money)

i feel like it (time travel) will work, and i am completley biased about it too

but i suppose that (xmanic) would be the next best scenario

Bishop was never a mutant hunter. So he doesn't feel guilty about being one.

He was a police officer. And he's damn proud of that, as evidenced by the fact that he has to tell us that he's a cop in every other panel he's appeared in since Claremont started writing him with X-Treme.

The thing about time travel is that it then makes it too much like Terminator. Terminator has a cop, a bleak future run by machines, a cyborg.. and X-Men probably borrowed from it to create its Bishop and Cable characters. Just like the Alien movies popped up as the Brood in the comics.

For the sake of keeping it real, and making it less of a copy of Terminator, I'd rule out time travel from the start. Make it about visions of the future and it's more real - we all have bad dreams. In Bishop's case, they are precognitive because he is absorbing energy from time. Disruptions to time in the future (by machine technology of some kind) cause the release of tachyon energy which travels faster than the speed of light, therefore appears to travel backwards, and travels back to this time where it is absorbed by Bishop, who sees the future it is from.

yeah, i am sure that is the path they might choose, i am just a purist, and well, Xmaniac you know my stance on the movies so i won't get into it again..

i just think there shouldn't be anything wrong with doing it the way it was written, i think when novels and books are made into movies, and fabricated, or stretched the truth, they take heat, i dunno, i don't think comic book adaptation should be any different..

but i know they won't do that, so i do think that is a good way to go about telling bishops story

But the essence of the Phoenix saga is a mutant whose powers have evolved to the point where she can't control her own power. The X-men watch one of their own become slowly corrupted. Thats relatively simple.

The essence of DoFP is a horrible future for mutants must be averted. I like your Bishop idea but wouldnt that just be a movie about stopping Sentinels? The best part of DoFP is that everybody really HAS died, it really IS a dystopian future...

time travel has been done before in movies though...i still am having a tough time believing that if 212 million people will pay to see X2 about mutants

200 million people will pay to see terminator

and Bad Boys 2 the atrocity could gross 150 million(there was no relation to this movie and time travel outside of the fact the people who made that movie litterally had to transport 20 million or so morons from the 40's who havent seen a movie like that yet to see that peice of ****)

Days of furture past will work

After Days of Future Past is released, I want FOX to have their take on Age of Apocalypse.
