So will Patton Oswalt do a Star Wars filibuster like he did in Parks and Recreation?

This is what I think is going on. Ward was send by Coulson to infiltrate Hydra and take their secrets like they did to shield.

Hope so. Because otherwise all that intel Skye put on the backup drive just got hand delivered to those goose-steppin' bastages.

Up until a few weeks ago, "Chuck" was my favorite show of ALL TIME. It took nearly 2 years, but "Chuck" has been moved to 2nd place now. Agents of SHIELD just hit the top.

I don't think Ward is a triple agent. There's just too much mental gymnastics to go through to explain why he shot Hand. Did he really kill her? If not, what's going to happen when they land the plane? What if Garrett decides to throw their corpses out the airlock or something? Will they just lay there unconscious forever?

The Son of Coul, for all intents and purposes, has just assumed the role of Fury. He is only sure of one thing: His team. (Or May's team...lol). Hand could have been a house cleaning. Perhaps Coulson couldn't trust her, given the Garrett betrayal, and so as part of the plan to infiltrate Ward, he clears another top agent.

And maybe, we find out later that Coulson takes over the encrypted line from May and is now drawing orders from the source...

Lots of ways to cover the Hand angle, and still bring Ward back clean.

I'd be really shocked if Coulson ordered the murder of one of the few good SHIELD agents on the same day he ordered his team to use stun shots against that same person and her agents when he thought they were Hydra.

If Ward is undercover, it's not at Coulson's order. Nor likely with his knowledge.

Wards not dirty.
Lorelei would have said, you are deceitful and evil.

My gut

But didn't Lorelei mention a darkness etc inside him?

Something else big is going to happen in the next 5 episodes so Ward may not be done as a good guy. With SLJ mentioning he filmed a cameo for the season finale, I suspect he's going to end up contacting the team in some way and that affects what's going to happen in Season 2.

Doesn't make sense for Ward to be undercover when he killed to SHIELD agents and Hand.

Lol at all the reaching. Ward
killed 3 SHIELD agents in cold blood.
Why would he need to go undercover to
gain Garrett's trust when he was going to be shot anyways
? Doesn't make any sense.

Yep zero sense for Ward to be a [BLACKOUT]triple agent[/BLACKOUT]

[BLACKOUT]Garrett is captured and so are his associates, Raina and Quinn etc why would Ward release them so he could then go undercover with them?[/BLACKOUT]

The promo for this episode suggests Ward [BLACKOUT]turned[/BLACKOUT] and wasn't [BLACKOUT]Hydra[/BLACKOUT] the whole time.

After reading the interview with Brett Dalton my current theory (and hope) for Ward is the following:

[blackout]I think he's HYDRA and that he was trained by Garrett as such and so his turn at the end was genuine/not a fake out. However, I think that the time he's spent with the team has put doubts in his head and that he's slowly going to realize being HYDRA isn't the answer, that he'll try to defect in the end.... now whether he survives that or not....[/blackout]

Again, just my theory (I really like Ward and I like what his character has become....well, up until now anyways :oldrazz:... so I'm hoping that there's SOME type of redemption for him)

I like that. To be honest, I wasn't a fan of the Ward character at all. Thought he was just an addition to swoon some female viewers but they've made him very interesting now. No redemptions. Stick to your guns Ward. Shield aren't the good guys, we've been shown that.

The worlds not black and white.

If Ward is a triple agent, then how do we know he's not a quadruple agent? Maybe Coulson thought he was SHIELD, but Ward turns out to be Hydra, but is in fact trying to infiltrate them because he's really SHIELD, but in fact, he's just pretending all of that because he's really Hydra. :oldrazz:

How can any side trust him ever again? He'll just suddenly turn on you... yet again, when you least expect it.

I think it will just get far too complicated and silly making him a triple agent. This show should just have the guts to make Ward a villain. It will be a lot more interesting that way. How many other shows have done this with one of their main characters?

Bad Ward is FAR more interesting than his broody-background-character-taking-up-oxygen-self.

Just putting this out there; Turn Turn Turn ....featuring a character called Triplet, from a crew who have said they have deliberately thrown red herrings out there to hide the Ward reveal..... Triple Agent could very well happen or at the very least, the speculation will make the confirmation more concrete. Dunno how I feel about it but I must say I was only watching the show out of an overall fondness for the MCU but now I'm a proper fan. This site has picked up too so the specualtion is all the fun.

I'm not going to lie, I did laugh last night during the promo only because of Ward's 5 o'clock shadow/scruff... I just had the thought pop into my head "I'm evil now, I'm going to show it by growing a beard!!"

:funny:

What are the chances Ward was brainwashed like Bucky was in CA2?

I was wondering if he was converted by the Clairvoyant and by that I mean Nash

Pretty high since hydra had the machine still running in TWS.
I still think it's more of a simple plan that Ward and Phil had planned something. I wouldn't be a bit surprised that when,
Fury was in the s.u.v. and yelled "get me off the grid" it signaled all his closest top agents, and we didn't SEE that

Any chance that Patton Oswalt will be hailing Hydra at the end of the episode?

From the trailer and photos, Quinn and Raina are back. I wonder if we'll see Blizzard, Graviton and Akela Amador back anytime soon.

^ It's possible. What's his character like in the comics?

As for Ward triple-cross. I think it's extreme to think this is a good way to go about it. At a minimum, the costs of letting Garrett go are probably higher than what's to be gained by infiltrating HYDRA this way. Killing three SHIELD agents to gain trust is too extreme as well. I'm not opposed to another twist, but I certainly think it's more likely he was faced with the choice of killing his SO or killing Hand and chose to go with killing Hand.
