So yeah, Frakes. From what I understand he's got some good directing credentials? I peeked at his imdb profile but haven't seen any of the shows he's directed.

Jonathan Frakes directed an episode of "Dollhouse." Other shows he's directed include "Roswell," "The Glades," "Burn Notice" and "NCIS: Los Angeles."

Looking forward to this one, I love Frakes as a director.... he directed a lot of my favorite episodes of 'Leverage'

i was wondering if someone would make this eventually :funny:

Also you know 14 episodes across 3 different Star Trek series and Star Trek:Insurrection and First Contact. Pretty damn good resume all and all!

Like I said, I read his stats, I just haven't seen any of those shows.

this thread? yeah, lot of improvement necessary, no real discussion yet. It hopefully gets better once the episode airs

I don't know, I would argue that "no discussion yet" is a big improvement over some of the other threads here. ;)

There's a new 4 minute clip from "The Well" on Facebook. I don't know how to post it here, but it is a close follow up to the events of Thor.

There is a voiceover about the gods/aliens giving us our mythology. The team is in Greenwich cleaning up after the events of Thor 2. Then it cuts to some Scandinavian forest, where a couple cuts down a tree with the staff from the other preview inside it.

I paused it and translated the staff, if anyone cares. It says "Inspire" "Rage" and a third word that looks like "Fight", but this word isn't clear enough for me to be sure.

From the clip, the staff in the episode don't seem to be related to TDW at all.

Coulson and the team are in Greenwich processing debris left over from the end of TDW, with the Jotun beast and its costly CGI absent, of course. Then the action jumps to an as-yet unnamed Scandinavian country where a couple searching in a forest fell a tree and dig he staff out of it. The tree had grown around the metal object and they spoke of searching years for it, so it obviously didn't come to be there as a result of what happened in TDW. The show just seems to be using Thor as a hook to lure people in when the episode is only tangentially related to the movie.

Seems disappointing that it's not really related to the movie. But oh, well, this is what we're getting from AOS.

Well, the staff is clearly Asgardian, so it's at least a little related to the movie.

Yeah, I'll wait until I see it before I pass judgment on whether or not I feel it is tied closely enough to the movie.

I never expected to see the agents fighting the [BLACKOUT]Jotun beast[/BLACKOUT] or Dark Elves or anything like that. I did assume that the staff would have been something that "fell through" during the Convergence, though.

Here's a guess: maybe this episode deals with how people living in Europe react to having gigantic windows into the other realms float above their heads, including people believing in/treasure hunting based on ancient legends, which suddenly don't seem so far-fetched...

People do that anyway, though.

That's true. Maybe I should have said "an increased interest." That's probably not where the episode takes it, anyway, just an off-the-cuff guess.

I'm guessing that whatever the thing is was "activated" by the convergence.

Is the show not allowed to actually show the face of the actors that portrayed the Avengers? I noticed on how, whenever they use actual clips from the films, they never show any clips featuring the actual faces of the stars.

Is there some kind of rule where they would have to pay money to the actors if their face is shown in any way on the show?

I think it's just an artistic choice. Like, portraying these things as world altering events that happen separate from our heroes and that they have no means of controlling.

Perhaps; I guess I just think that it's odd that if they had the option to use clips from the MCU films, that they'd use the ones showing the actors in their iconic roles whenever using those clips for flashback sequences.

I think it works a lot better that we only just catch glimpses of the characters. Makes them feel a lot more mythic and cool.

It seems like this is the kind of thing they're going for:
