I've always found this show entertaining, but now it's starting to feel important.

Exactly.

I thought they were going to cut from that Fury scene at the end to Coulson on the plane. They have masterfully tied the two and finally pushed the show to true spy thriller territory. Who is on the up and up???

The thing I love that others might have complained about up until now was the establishment of character. However, without the set up, how could you write Skye or May acting out of character??? That Simmons look when Skye wanted to follow orders...priceless. The look when May was being kind...perfect.

I think the ONLY thing right now that's bothering me, regarding the MCU, is the fact that none of the Avengers (sans Natasha and Clint perhaps) are aware that Coulson is alive.

I still can't believe that Rogers doesn't even know, even though Coulson has been shown going in and out of SHIELD bases.

Fury probably found ways to keep it secret, like he's done with a lot of stuff.

Cap knows. He's an Agent level 8.

So wait

If SHIELD falls after the events of TWS

what the hell happens to Amador and Gill?

The fact that they are hinting at a major guest star and Chloe Bennett was star struck at this guest's appearance leads me to believe it may be one of the Avengers actors.

Amador would make a nice addition to the team.

There are rumors of a major guest star showing up, which could mean one of the Avengers actors.

If you remember from "Yes Men" Sif said that Thor will be pleased to hear that Coulson is alive and Coulson said that he wants to tell Thor himself.

Well, if we do get a major Avengers to pop up soon, then I hope it's Evans or Hemsworth.

And honestly, given on how Coulson isn't scheduled to be in any known films within the foreseeable future, we may never get a chance to see Coulson reunited with Thor on screen..or ever..

There's also the fact that Coulson has been to several SHIELD bases, and has been out on missions in public seemingly making little to no effort to conceal himself. Heck, in the pilot, he confronted Mike Peterson in the middle of a crowded train station (or was it a bus stop)? It's not a problem right now, but the longer that the show goes, the harder and harder it will be to buy NONE of the Avengers learning of his survival. Banner and Thor can be explained away. Cap, BW, and Hawkeye, not so much.

Chloe Bennett did say that she was star struck when this major actor showed up on set.

My guess is that it's either Evans, Johansson, or Renner. I don't see how Hemsworth or Ruffalo tie into this plot very well, Downey either.

I could see it being Jeremy Renner. Giving him something to do before Avengers comes along. Also, his special abilities are extremely practical.

Perhaps. Evans and Johansson would directly tie in from the Winter Soldier. Long shot is Stan.

And it would tie into the fact that

he's no longer a SHIELD agent based on Set photos of Age of Ultron

Downey only potentially ties in if the show deals with the Cap 2 aftermath and then moves forward to set up Ultron. If the entire rest of the season is dealing with the aftermath of Cap 2, then it'd be Evans or Johansson.

By the way...if Cap 2 itself leads into Ultron, I dont want to know until I see the film for myself.

Heck, it wouldn't even be hard for Tony to learn that Coulson had survived his ordeal given Stark's near unlimited access towards hacking into SHIELD's mainframe.

And I would assume that he probably still monitors any events closely affiliated with the Extremis drug as well, which is what Mike was displaying most of in the pilot.

Does anyone know as to WHEN this guest star is supposed to appear and whether it'll be just a Nick Fury like cameo or an actual guest like Sif?

I would rather hope for it to be Evans as Steve since it would actually be nice to see Steve reunite with Coulson considering the amount of time that was spent establishing their relationship in the Avengers.

They never said how or when that guest star appears, but my guess would be a stinger with a line like "It's nice to see that you are alive again Agent Coulson."

I'm also wondering on how they're going to tie up a certain arc in the show, namely regarding Coulson, considering the events of TWS.

I think it can be said that almost everyone here agreed that Coulson needs to have one big scene with Fury, in person, to go over the whole situation regarding why he was brought back and the circumstances around it.

However, given that by the end of TWS, most of the world...except for Steve, Maria, Natasha, and Falcon are led to believe that Fury is dead and that he's off chasing Hydra bases in Europe, how are we going to have this tied up then?

Also, am I the only one here that thinks that the trailers for this show come out feeling a bit over-dramatic than it needs to be at times?lol

That is something of a conundrum.

That is something of a conundrum.

Something that Marvel seems to have a problem with every now and then.

I mean as great as Marvel is, overall, with their whole world-building process...I feel like there are times where they set something up, only to possibly forget to follow through with them when the time comes up for it.

As they introduce new SHIELD Agents, I can't help think if they are going to be good or bad?

Maybe both.

Honestly, a part of me wonders if the show would have been better off if they had at least one whole season under their belt, before the events of TWS took place..especially when you consider what happens in TWS.

The whole TWS storyline was written before this series was started so they knew all along what was in store. This wasn't a surprise put to the AOS writers.

I think the events of TWS could have an impact on the way the MCU introduces characters who in the comics were SHIELD Agents like Clay Quartermain, Daisy Johnson, Bobby Morse, Jimmy Woo, Abigail Brand, Jessica Drew (if she's not Skye) and Wendell Vaughn in that all could debut as US Military, CIA, FBI, ATF, DEA, Homeland Security or Interpol.

Vaugn's dad already appears to work for SHIELD but they could flip things by having Wendell work for Stark like his dad did in the comic.
