AIM Away Messages

Am I the only person who doesn't read these things if it's some long quote, song lyric, etc? All I wanna know is where you are and/or what you're doing. It seems to be something only my female friends do; as all my male AIM buddies' away messages are short and to the point.

I never make it far enough into the message to cry. The second I notice that it doesn't tell me your location and activity, I stop reading.

I tend to use the same few unless I'm going out on the weekend and then I'll let you know specifics:

And just what I actually am doing, or where I'm at. And eventually I add a way to contact me if I am gone for a long time.

Usually I just have the default Away message, sometimes I'll change it and put "I'll be back eventually".

I usually just put up my Away message when I don't feel like talking to certain people, but at the same time seeing who is online. Or I'll just go invisible.

Since I've switched to Trillian, I just have stuff like "brb", "class", "work", and "food"

On AIM I had those as well as Star Fox 64 quotes and "Believe it or not, George isn't at home. Please leave a message after the beep. I must be out, or I'd pick up the phone. Oh where could I be? Believe it or not I'm not home!"

i tried trillian, but it just confused me, i didnt enjoy having everyone on one list...

I put random quotes for mine, but if it's anything more then a line I just don't bother.

I keep it simple.

If I'm online, it says I'm online.

If I'm in the shower, eating, watching a film, nipped to the shops, or growing my toenails, it says I'm offline. I don't have it turned on if I'm not using it and I only want people to know the one thing they need to know about my location... ONLINE, sat where I ****ing should be.
