I have seen most of his popular films:

Seven Samurai
Throne of Blood
Ran
Yojimbo
Rashomon

But going into High and Low, it felt like discovering this master again for the first time.

And still more uncharted films of his on my list:

Stray Dog
Drunken Angel
Ikiru

As of this time last year, I've only seen one Kurosawa movie-- Seven Samurai. But as of then... I ****ing love Seven Samurai. There's a bunch more on an ever growing list of movies I have to see.

I feel like a **** film fan to have never seen one Kurosawa film fully

Stray Dog is a favorite of mine. Kurosawa is maybe the GOAT

I’m playing ghost of tshumima at the moment and loving every second of it. What are some good Kurosawa recommendations? It’s a shame, it seems hard to find his movies on streaming services at the moment

I imagine a lot of them are on HBO Max, via the Criterion Collection.

Throne of Blood was my first, and I fell in love with it.

The Criterion Channel has like 20 of his films streaming. My 15 favorite Kurosawa films:

Seven Samurai
Yojimbo

High and Low
Ikiru
Throne of Blood
Ran
Sanjuro
Rashomon

Stray Dog
Drunken Angel
Dersou Uzala
Hidden Fortress
The Bad Sleep Well
Kagemusha
Red Beard

The bolded are Samurai films, which are probably what you are looking for because of the game. Other great Samurai films from this era of Japan not directed by Kurosawa are:

Three Outlaw Samurai
Kill!
Samurai Rebellion
Harakiri
Sword of Doom
Red Sun(this is actually a spaghetti western samurai crossover with Charles Bronson and Toshiro Mifune).

I actually taught a class on Kurosawa and Mifune back in the day. Kurosawa is a top 5 all time filmmaker for me and Mifune is the greatest action star ever IMO.

One of the absolute masters. Have not a seen a film of his I didn't like, but my personal favorites are Yojimbo, Ran, Rashomon, Throne of Blood, and Seven Samurai.

thank you! I’ll try and track them down

Ikiru is his best film of his and the best film of all time. Red Beard and Ran are also tremendous works.
