Will this appointment affect or influence MCU in any way?

It means Marvel Studios won't lose Kevin Feige, and/or get taken over by Jeph Loeb. Good enough for me.

As long as he doesn't butt heads with Feige, then I'm fine with him. For all his accomplishments, I hope he doesn't try to stick his foot too much into Marvel since it's kind of obvious he doesn't know how to greenlight good CBMs besides Batman.

I think Alan Horn did a pretty good job when he was the head of WB, but when it comes to CBM his record is rather spotty. However, he was probably just doing it according to the wishes of the company, since even after his departure they still don't have much to show for aside from Chris Nolan's Batman trilogy. As long he stays away from Kevin Feige and the Marvel Studios, I think it could work out.

He did oversaw all 8 Harry Potter films, and also The Dark Knight trilogy, but that also comes with Superman Returns and Green Lantern.

Horn did a decent job of managing WB but Disney is a whole different ballgame.

It's sad to see him end his reign WB like that, on a bad note.

I mean is it really a bad note though? Harry Potter Deathly Hollows Part 2 did huge business. I'm sort of glad Feige didn't take the gig since I don't think the position is an enviable one right now other than how huge Avengers one. I hope Horn will see to leave Feige and the Marvel team alone and let them continue doing what they do best.

From what I understand WB has a rather bizarre and convoluted setup in their corporate structure and hierarchy, which is mainly the source of all their problems related to executive decision making. Horn might have a more smoother experience handling an environment like Disney's.

Well it is a division of Time Warner.

I think ultimately what we need though is writers and storytellers who know enough about business to be in these positions. Rich Ross I think was clearly not a story guy and was in over his head when he was promoted.

Disney is a big studio like WB, but recently it has not done well, movies like - Chronicles of Narnia :Prince Caspian, Prince Of Persia, Mars needs Moms, John Carter all were big budget movies that failed at Box Office, besides Marvel and Pixar they have not much going in their favor right now.

Hopefully, Alan Horn can give some freedom to new directors and try out some new ideas as he is known to give more freedom to directors to create their project.

As far as Marvel Studios is concerned, it is an independent unit of Disney and it will be allowed to function like that unless it starts making huge losses.

It seems, of late, Disney has been pulling out WB talent, what with Paul Dini acting as writer / executive producer to animated TV series on Disney XD and now Alan Horn beoming the new COO at Disney Studios.
