Alejandro G. Iñárritu’s next film | Tom Cruise to star

I'm fully expecting something that'll be a gauntlet for Cruise like it was for DiCaprio with The Revenant. I imagine Cruise was sitting there watching him get mauled by the bear and thinking, "That should be me up there."

This is a fantastic and very unexpected pairing. Gold for Cruise imcoming.

Nice. With Cruise starting to age out of action hero roles, it will be good to see him do something different. And Innaritu’s films are always good so this could be quite a good pairing.

Vanilla Sky, Eyes Wide Shut, Interview With a Vampire, Jerry McGuire? :p

American Made was the last one he did that wasn't not a straight action movie and it was pretty underrated if you ask me.
Wikipedia has decided to call it an action comedy.

Sorta kinda but it's not on the level of Mission Impossible where he's doing stunts every scene and it's based on Barry Seal's story in the 80s.

I can't stand Inarritu, but at least Cruise is getting out of his comfort zone. I miss the days when he did stuff like Interview with the Vampire or Vanilla Sky. At least this will be more interesting than Jack Reacher 2.

Hardy putting Inarritu in a chokehold on The Revenant is a source of constant joy for me.

I can't stand Tom Cruise as an actor or a person but this paring has me interested.

His cult aside.

Cruise with auteur driven flicks can out perform ANYBODY! You can name the Leos, Pitts, etc He owns them when he steps up. The thing is, he has been closer to two decades being an action star, but his performance in Magnolia is still unmatched by any actors in his same acting bracket. This is very exciting. Same feeling as I did when I saw RDJ was cast in the Nolan flick. He wants that gold.

The logline as we know it centers on the most powerful man in the world, who embarks on a frantic mission to prove he is humanity’s savior before the disaster he’s unleashed destroys everything.
Well alright.

Not a big Iñárritu fan, but I'm all for Cruise returning to prestige flicks. Could this finally be John Goodman's Oscar moment?
