Sci-Fi Alien: Earth (Noah Hawley and Ridley Scott) | FX on HULU

I am so happy this is alive. If between the project by Fede Alvarez, who sucks, and Noah Hawley who is (most of the time) great the former had moved forward and the latter had died it would have slayed me.
I'm still hopeful this will be entertaining at least. :)

Hoping to see some Fargo alumni in this.

Nope. We have almost nothing about what the first season is even about let alone what would lead to a second season.

Lofty claims but we shall see.

I think revealing the origins of the Xenomorphs has been a complete and utter disaster, and the storytelling has been terrible.

Retconning out Prometheus and Covenant would be fine by me.

I will at the very least accept IGNORING Prometheus and Covenant for the time being.

I simply can't accept that David created the Xenomorphs because of his anti-humanity hissy fit.

The Xenomorphs, the Engineers, the Derelict were all better when we never knew where they came from. Sometimes the mystery and the ambiguity is better than the actual explanation. Our imaginations fill in the blanks, or really, the origins of the Xenomorphs are less important than how they make us feel.

I'm a big fan of Prometheus and especially Covenant but I'd be fine with the franchise in general maintaining pretty loose continuity. I think in general completely ignoring anything we learn about the Xenomorphs outside the original film is the way to go.

I just pretend none of the follow-ups exist when I watch the original, even the ones I like, works better that way.

Prometheus and Covenant can be retconned without removing them from the canon. One of the more simple ways I have seen is just that David recreated them from what the Engineers discovered (and pseudo-created themselves as we did not see a proper Xenomorph) but not the true, original source which leaves their true origin a mystery.

Making the Space Jockey head a helmet for the Engineers might be harder to dismiss though.

Of course they can just handwave away what they want from those movies differently too.

I like the Dark Horse canon of the Preds using them for an initiation ritual though...

That stinks, but the actors' rights are worth the wait.

I have to imagine that this upcoming season of Fargo will be its last if Hawley will soon be busy with this Alien show. Not that he couldn't do both, but as a showrunner, it'd probably be a task to juggle them.

I don't think it's going to be any problem for Fargo. He was a showrunner in that and Legion simultaneously and it didn't affect either project. Also Fargo lately is taking three years between seasons so that's plenty of time to do both. And that is of course if Alien is successful and has more seasons.

That's true. I forget that Fargo breaks were and are even that long compared to Legion having a definitive end point with three seasons.

Details about Olyphant’s character are not being disclosed. I hear he plays Kirsh, a synth who acts as a mentor and trainer for Chandler’s Wendy who is a hybrid, a meta-human who has the brain and consciousness of a child but the body of an adult.
