This is like saying the genre of sci-fi horror is better than sci-fi action. You might prefer one over the other, but to call one better is kinda weird.

Alien is a great sci-fi survival horror film and I wouldn't argue with anyone who says it’s the better film. That said, I have the time of my life every time I watch Aliens, and it will always be one of my favourite films.

The heart-pounding suspense and thrilling nature of Alien just edges it over Aliens for me, but I do agree that Aliens has more a more "fun factor" feel to it. Both are great movies and will forever be classics.

Theyre both great films but I think Aliens keeps the foreboding horror elements while adding some great action and with Ripley's relationships with Newt and Hicks it has a stronger emotional core as well as one of the greatest hero moments in cinema history.
