To eaches own. I never thought that, and most my friends I don't think ever thought that. The story is central about the aliens. Maybe where they came from, possibly the "Space Jockey"

But the thing is, Alien/Aliens, is suppose to keep mystery around it, that is half of the vibe that the third and forth lost. You have to keep a sense of imagination, and never really unveil "everything"

I'm not up on my lore, but doesn't the Company have something to do with their origin? I know theres theories out there that the company knows more about them than they let on...

Of course the aliens had to be involved in the sequels - I just meant that the focus shouldn't have been on Ripley and her journey, but instead a larger scale, with the company/origin of the aliens explored more

Alien is a very good sci-fi/horror movie
Aliens is a very good sci-fi/action movie
Alien 3 boring
Alien 4 nothing good can be said about this.
AVP enjoyable for what it was,
AVP-R terrible

The funny thing is, Alien3 is getting more and more respect as time passes... ;)

As for the deleted scenes, you could read about them on IMDb or in this excelent site. Under the Alien3 section you'll find a sub-section called "Deleted Scenes", it not only describes them, it also has videos of some of those scenes. These were mostly taken from a copy of Fincher's Workprint.

quoted for truth. After seeing the Alien 3 assembly cut, Alien 3 became my favourite. Its got the dark mood an Alien movie should have. When you think about it, Aliens is actually the odd one out of the series.

Yea I don't understand the hate Alien 3 gets, I think it is brilliant. Moody, atmospheric, claustrophobic, genuinely unsettling. And the actual look of the film is very accurate to H.R Giger's original vision. And it is just funny to see a load of cockney's running around crapping there pants and swearing every other second! :hehe:

But I voted Aliens for my favourite.

I loved the Alien 3 special features where you see a dog trot off with an alien suit on. Pure hilarity lol.

The uncut version is MUCH better than the theatrical release. I was confused though: In the old version, didn't the alien bond with a dog instead of the bull it came out of in the uncut version?

It's very different, anyway.

I like the way they made the alien walk like Bambi when it came out of the bull in the new cut. Kinda cute in a disgusting, terrifying way.

:hehe: Yea I know what you mean. Yea it was like Bambi, but just with extra blood and gooey...stuff. :D

I don't know why people dislike Alien 3 so much...I like that it went back to its horror routes with no where to go, no sufficient way to fight it and an internal struggle with the people Ripley was with. It stuck with the claustrophobic elements of Alien and that gave me the fear that the original gave me.

I love Aliens but to me it was more action oriented than Ripley's or David Fincher's.

But F*** Alien Resurrection besides the underwater scene.

I have a new-found respect for Cameron after listening to the commentary on Aliens last night. Granted, he was being a lil greedy lol. Did you know that in the space of three months he wrote three scripts? Terminator, Aliens, and... Rambo II. His Aliens script was actually a rewrite of a script he'd already written but wasn't very keen on. He added the characters and changed some of the plot... basically adding a new house to the old front door.

Yea didn't he re write the script for Aliens while Terminator was delayed due to Arnie filming Conan or something?

I know Terminator was delayed... that's something that puzzled me about what he said. I guess he'd just sold them on the concept and had to come up with the actual script. He said he had three two-hour scripts to write, that's 120 pages a piece. That's 360 pages to write in three months and then he calculated how many pages per hour he had to write to get it all done. Greedy genius :D

The only thing we know Weyland Yutani did was tell the crew to investigate the signal and bring back the Alien for research.

Yeah. Dino De Laurentis optioned for Arnold to shoot 'Conan the Destroyer' ... So before shooting 'The Terminator,' Jim did a first draft pass on 'Aliens.' Based on the draft, FOX decided to wait on Cameron and see how he did on 'Terminator' to determine whether or not he could direct 'Aliens.' The rest fell into place, obviously.

I agree, I actually liked the underwater scene...but everything else was terrible!!

Theyve been showing Alien and Aliens a lot lately on the Encore channels. I personally didn't like Alien 3 but I didn't see the workprint or director's cut...which I heard was much better than the theatrical version. But if there was one thing I LOVED about Alien 3 was the dog alien, I thought that was really creepy/cool and definitely tied with the xenomorph from Alien (1979) as my favorite xenomorphs.

BTW, did anyone know that the actress that played Vasquez in Aliens (The awesome hispanic lesbian marine)...is actually white! :wow:...WTF?! I thought she was hispanic the whole time, I think thats actually pretty cool. Shes actually the same actress that play John Connor's foster mom in Terminator 2!

^Seriously, its too bad she died. People seem to think Hudson was the best marine but I thought Vasquez was so much cooler.

HUDSON: Hey, Vasquez! Have you ever been mistaken for a man?
VASQUEZ: No.....have you?

hahahaha!!! :hehe:

Actually, if Vasquez lived I think it would be quite interesting to have Alien 3 focus on her (after all she is in the marines and thats what shes hired to do) rather than Ripley again (although I do think Ripley is the best charecter of the series...but her ordeal with the aliens should have been done).

I think the original idea for Alien 3 was to have Newt grow up and become the new "Ripley" of the franchise.

Maybe if they were to make an Alien 5 (which I am kind of skeptical about)...they could probably make 3 and 4 Ripley's nightmares while she was in her hypersleep or just make a direct sequel to Aliens.

I was mainly pissed off that they killed Hicks. He was like, my favourite character in any film ever when I was younger. But I think they wanted to make it a tragic ending for Ripley, she was never meant to have a happy life. I do sorta like that though, it sorta broke the mould to not have a happy ending.

^True, I really felt sorry for Ripley (like my heart sunk for her). She spends 57 years in space, everyone she knows back on Earth is dead. Then she meets Newt(daughter-like) and Hicks (new love interest) and they both are killed at the beginning of Alien 3 :csad:...although I do like it when the writers try not to be so conventional, I think it would have been better for the writers to kill ALL of them off in the crash. That way it is sad but you know they all died in their sleep and that Ripley wouldn't have to live with all that turmoil, a bittersweet ending.

The Marines were cool. I thought it was neat that Vasquez was the toughest of the bunch. As for Hudson...I hate Bill Paxton so I try to forget every character he plays.

Yea I see what you are saying. Ripley could of died with her new family together. I do really like Alien 3 though, well, the extended cut anyway.
