For those who have seen the spots and know of the basic synopsis for the new CW Network show "Aliens in America" please tell me I'm not the only one who sees how much anti-Muslim/Islamic propaganda this show is.

I just saw the spot for the next episode and it involved the foreign exchange student having to buy supplies at a hardware store for a school project and the supplies needed are stated as if they could be used for an explosive device...HAR HAR...

Hilarious hijinks at the expense of an entire culture. I know it's not the first time, but this show couldn't be more prejudical. At least other shows try to mask it...

Anyone else feel the same way?

Sounds pretty damn funny to me.

I haven't seen it, but what it sounds like to me its not racism. Its social satire. Whether you like it or not, these racial issues are real and its not making fun of Islamic people. Its making fun of the people who buy into these stereotypes.

They're going about it in a stupid, juvenile and unecessary way.

There's other ways of shedding light on our society and how those stereotypes you mention pertain to it without it coming off like it was thought up by a bunch of high school kids.

No offense to you, but anyone who finds this junk "damn funny" is "damn ignorant" :o

i miss politically incorrect jokes ...gets me everytime

Actually, i like this show... it's a breath of fresh air... the mom doesn't like Raja, and feels uncomfortable around Jeffrey, Claire's black boyfriend, who's a really sweet guy, like Raja.

it's no way racist... it shows that these fears have no ground when dealing with one person...

Love this show. The pilot was pretty much everything the opposite of this thread's first post.

The show feels very preachy too me....and tries to shove opinions down your throat.

"So tell me dude... do you hit that?"

"She's my sister."

"Aww c'mon, if she was my sister, I'd be up in her room every night."

or

"Justin Tolchuck is not gay. if he was, would he make out with his pillow every night, pretending it was Amy (Somebody), caressing it ever so gently?"

the show is being very upfront about a lot of the fears and stereotypes people harbor in the post 9/11 world. Especially in suburbia

I think that's why it feels so preachy.
GOOD writing can be subtle and still say what it needs to say....not hit you over the head with a hammer to make the point. :)

well it's a comedy, so it makes sense that theyd go over-the-top.
