All Marvel films were cheap productions that did nothing for the genre until the late 90's. Superman, Batman and TMNT were the only comic book franchises until Blade came along.

Agreed, waiting nearly three years to watch a film with the hype levels of this magnitude was a true test of fanboy fortitude and what a journey that was, months of speculation and theories all boiling down to two and a half hours of footage is truly fascinating and exciting.
It was terrible when WB moved the film back in January 2014. A time of horror in this place.
