This is going to be a great gift as Jan 19 is my birthday :D

Nothing to do with the premise of the movie, but everything to do with MOS/Snyder.

Stick Nolan or Abrams' name to this project and you would've got yourself near TFA-levels of anticipation.

With that said, it's been getting plenty of love and attention. It single-handedly won CC for WB, for three years in a row after all. It's just a lot of the cautious hype is tipping over into negativity. But none of that affects anything until after it's released. If it's great, none of this matters. It will quickly join the likes of the Ledger hate-campaign.

Or Jones or the Russos or Bird or Miller or Aronofsky or Affleck or PTA or Fincher or Johnson or Coogler or Cuaron or...

Water under the bridge. I'm hoping the script and Affleck's influence and Snyder's technical prowess makes it work.

Those directors are famous but not Nolan level famous.

Nolan's one of those directors where you'll watch a film because they're directing it rather than say the actors/actresses starring in it.

Schumacher is a good name. Did you see Lost Boys?

So you're basically just spouting directors names now...

My point is that any of those directors would have resulted in less skepticism and more hype from both the cb fans and the movie buffs.

(I'm OK with Abrams, but most on that list - those with a broader resume - are held in higher regard I think.)

And the Russo's pretty much nailed that one superhero movie. Hence their being hired to direct the biggest most expensive most logistically complicated SH movie to date. I have yet to hear or read ANY skepticism from any quarter despite their paper thin resume. There's a reason.

And we are talking perception here. This isn't a critique of Snyder. I'm rooting for the guy.

I'd actually enjoy seeing Abrams take a crack at a DCEU film. He's excellent at working character chemistry.

Well not the Russos originally, i had some scepticism of them being mainly TV directors leading a big budget Marvel film, then i was proven wrong when the film released.

I've always wanted Abrams to direct the Green Lantern Corps movie.

Agreed. I found their hiring inexplicable at the time.

Superman solo please.

kryptonian lex? Krypton not exploding? jor-el commits suicide to bring kal back from the dead?......hmmmm I'm tempted to say no thanks but then again JJ has grown as a film maker so who knows maybe he can do a solid superman flick

Directed by J.J. Abrams.

Story by David S Goyer.

Screenplay by Chris Terrio.

Fixed. :o

I doubt he'd do that stuff with an established universe like this.

More than that, I think his main thing is essentially stories about young people. Felicity, Trek, Super 8, TFA... Green Lantern may also be a space opera, but upon closer inspection I think it lacks a certain Abrams-ness, or I speculate he would think that.

Kyle Rayner in a J.J Abrams Green Lantern movie.
