And this is the way they should be approaching it. Cyborg's film could go from being about someone who needed mentored when he joined the league to passing that on to a new general: TITANS or TEEN TITANS elements. If Cyborg as The Flash interact well, a TITANS film would make perfect sense in that regard.

And since WB has talked about a METAL MEN movie, I could see this being a springboard to that as well.

It could still very much function as a solo film fleshing out and developing the character in his own rite.

I would be overjoyed for that, and it has a straightforward mythos for the heroes that wouldn't be daunting for non-readers.

I can't believe how far the discussion of a Cyborg solo film has gotten, and I love Cyborg.

Titans need a film waaaay before Cyborg.

but... but... Cyborg is an icon! [/Geoff Johns]

I imagine a Metal Men movie is a long way off, It would be a good property for an animated film though

I don't hold it against you, we are all entitled to feel however we want about it.

If you don't treat it as a legitimate adaptation of the character, you might soften your stance over time. But I do appreciate your honest opinion.

Lego Batman cleared the massive hurdle of being the first watchable DC theatrical film since 2013.

I don't know enough about Cyborg to say he does or doesnt deserve a movie but all I can say is I won't rush out to see his film and I would prefer MM in JL.

And I would rush to see a Nightwing movie and will pass on Teen Titans.

Cyborg is pretty cool, but I'm not sure if
he could carry his own film just yet. I feel like
he'd be better served as a supporting character
in a Teen Titans film, which I would rush out to see.

Wanting to make sure the entire Justice League wasn't entirely-white was a very admirable move (especially after it took until the very end of the second Avengers movie to some people of color onto the team) so I can see why they left out Martian Manhunter.

He actually has the same problem as Cyborg. He's more of an ensemble player and never lasts long when they try to spin him off into his own series. Plus Supergirl's doing a great job with him right now.

Looks like Matt Reeves is most likely to direct the Batman solo movie. Although according to Variety the deal is not 100% done yet.

Thoughts?

In the movies I've seen I liked Cloverfield, thought Let Me In was boring, but really enjoyed Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes.

To bad about Affleck, I would have really liked to have seen him direct, but I can see how his 2016 year in movies (And his first directing flop) may have made him apprehensive.

I've only seen DotPtA. Loved it.
Since I haven't seen nearly as much as I've had for Ayer or Snyder or Wan,
I'm trepidatious at the very least.
He wasn't at all who I had in mind for a Batman solo, other IP's sure,
but he's certainly a talented director.

This is a big win. Especially for WB in winning back both fans and critics. Reeves has RT scores in the 80's and 90's for his last several films and is generally beloved by fans.

Saw Ridley Scott was in the mix. What are the chances WB would think about tapping him for say, GREEN LANTERN?

Or (salivates) THE NEW GODS. Politics and insterstellar war.

In my biased opinion I think Cyborg should get his own movie instead of being relegated to supporting character in a Teen Titans movie! And yes I'm only saying that because if Cyborg is with the Titans in a Teen Titans movie then that means I'll never get Blue Beetle on the big screen! And I want Blue Beetle!! :)

Also Cyborg has been upgraded to JL member since 2011, and out of it he got the technosapiens, GRID, and Variant as villains. That and his solo stuff has been underwhelming IMO.

I guess on the positive whoever takes Cyborg can really make it their own movie. We saw how people took offense to the way Superman, and Batman in the DCEU due to their long and well established history of how they should act.

So Cyborg can't bang. How is his character not gloomy?

My two cents are that I'd prefer Cyborg have his own solo film. It would feel wrong for him, as the only African-American in the group, to not receive the solo treatment. I don't mind if one of the other characters pops in, kind of like how Sam (Falcon) showed up in Ant-Man briefly, but I'd rather him have his own movie.

The character has some interesting possibilities, too. I don't know about his comic stories much, but something that honors the best of his mythos while maybe incorporating things like the topics or feel of television hits such as Mr. Robot, Humans, Westworld or Black Mirror would be compelling stuff. I'd be most interested in a story that thematically explores the nature of humanity and consciousness in some way big or small.

I had this idea for a Cyborg story, it might get stolen now, but whatever.

After Vic learns to grow his organic bits back he inadvertently seperates himself from the motherbox. For a short period of time he is 100% human again. He and Sarah take advantage of the opportunity and consumate and all that good stuff.

Little does he know that his personality imprinted on the motherbox and it gained consciousness and developed into a full fledged AI based on his decreased mother, Elinore Stone. For all intents and purposes the motherbox's AI is Vic's "daughter".

After 72 hour of being separated from the motherbox he starts experiencing debilitating headaches. He gets rushed to STAR Labs where his father discovers that he's dying. The quantity of information his brain has proccessed in his time as a Cyborg is too much for his organic brain to handle alone.

To keep from going catatonic or comatose he has to merge with Elinore once again. Now he's more powerful than he's ever been since he can access all his powers and abilities through communication with Elinore.

I don't know if it's good or not, but these are some ideas I'd personally add into the Cyborg mythos.

Solid ideas, Blue. This goes to show how a filmmaker can run wild with this character, not having to worry about angering the fans with big deviations
