I guess a lot of it is just different strokes. I actually like that Zimmer, usually keeps his score just under the surface of the movie, audible a lot of the time and it swells when it needs to (usually). I don't see Rises as Bay-esque, but I want to watch it again before I cast full judgement.

Bane's "Venom" was the anaesthetic he used. It was reinterpreted, not gone.

Meh. Venom in the comics makes Bane bigger...stronger. It was not part of the movie, other than his berskerker rage toward the end.

btw i just need to say I doubt Nolans will ever leave wb to work for disney. Should he do that he would only be limited to work on superhero films and one that would be produced by kevin feige. So effectively he is losing his status as the top dog in wb.
Im confident that nolans will stay throughout mos trilogy and possibly more

Well...he DOES have a great relationship with Alan Horn.

Yes he does. But is Alan Horn able to give him the career opportunities that WB can give him? Would Alan be able to just yank Kevin Feige off Avengers and let him produce and direct Avengers? Would the same formula that works for Batman also work for Avengers? I don't think they are able to change the tone of the movie. So I'm not sure if Christopher Nolans is willing to take on a project that is so much off his style.
Also, other than Superhero films, does Disney have the right people and expertise and equipements to do other films? Disney only produced like 2 non superhero live action films this year.
Just because he has a great relationship with Alan Horn doesn't mean they have to work together. IMO, it would be a really bad move to have Nolans produce a superhero film Avengers style because it doesn't suit him and he can't do anything to change the universe.

Hey everyone, sorry to go offtopic here, but I just saw the leaked SDCC trailer and loved the tone it had of how people really would react to a man who out of nowhere had these powers and he turns out to be an alien theme. Definitely something slightly touched up on smallville but not on a big scale as this movie. so for you fans who have read many Superman stories, are there any books you can refer me to that you might have already guessed "Man of Steel" may be basing off of or borrowing from? Thanks in advanced!

Several actually.
Try Earth One. I think a few elements was borrowed from there. Birthrights also.
You can also try the latest trade that collects Action Comics #1-8 called Superman: Action Comics vol 1 - Superman and the men of steel

Goyer mentioned Geoff Johns' run on the character. That included Brainiac, Secret Origin, Last Son, Back in Action, Escape from Bizarro World, and Superman and the Legion of Superheroes. But Secret Origin and Last Son would probably be most related to the movie.

Sweet, thanks a lot sethypants and HighFivingMF! Can't wait to order these books and give 'em a read.

I'm not saying he is or he isn't going to Disney, but to say he never would is short sighted. Also, he doesn't want to do superhero films any longer if you read his quotes. Having a great relationship with Alan Horn means they COULD work together though.

Saw the MOS teaser with TDKR I thought it was great. I love the look and feel of the movie.

I can't wait.

Doing the Superman pose with hands at hips = MONEY SHOT!

I want that as an avatar... Does anyone know how many posts I need to make one?

All I have to say after seeing TDKR is that I've never been so disappointed with a movie in my life. The movie has so many plot holes and things that made no sense that I NOW fear for Superman. The screenplay was a mess and I hope this is not going to happen to Man of steel... :csad::csad:

Agreed. Jonah Nolan needs to either go away, or be closely monitored. I do think Snyder has a decent eye for screenwriting based on he and his writers' adjustments to WATCHMEN.

Two words: Sucker Punch.

Eh. I'm speaking more in terms of his reviewing existing scripts and improving on them. SUCKER PUNCH doesn't have a whole lot wrong with it structurally. It's not nearly as straightforward a story as it appears. The main issue in SUCKER PUNCH was editing.

One of the main issues I had with it was that it was basically an MTV music video pretending to be a movie. And it seemed like Snyder was trying to put all his younger days fantasies and what not out on film. But of course, all that has nothing to do with MOS. Im sure that Snyder will prove all his doubters wrong with MOS. All this guy needs is a great script and a movie that isn't a CGI music video and he can do wonders.

It's not fair to attack the script for the horribly cut up mess that was the movie. The screenplay could be good.

The thing that worries me the most with MOS is that it will get butchered in the editing process. No matter how good the script/cast is or how well Snyder filmed the thing, a great movie can become mediocre if butchered in the editing room. And WB has a good history of doing that.

I hope they don't take out any of the pre-Superman elements to please the ´´Booo, origin suxz0r!!!`` crowd.

Those teasers were awesome. Both of the voice-overs I think show that they have a solid understanding of Superman. I don't like Snyder, but damn if those trailers weren't inspiring. They've turned me from ambivalent to straight up excited.

Oh man...Guard, you wrote an amazing review of TDKR in the Batman thread. You said everything I wanted to say.

I`m baffled to say but I can't believe how Nolan effed it so much. Can't believe this is the same guy who made Batman Begins and The Dark Knight.

I`m really worried about this movie now after seeing TDKR. I can't get this bad taste out of my mouth. It was that bad. :csad::csad::csad:

But i kinda believe in Snyder and his dedication to comic book movies and all...Let's hope for the best because right now I`m going to pretend I never saw the movie at all. :(
