I disagree. That EXACTLY what they were going to do with the last (Failed) JL film. different actors for both bats and supes were going to be used instead of routh and bale. I wouldnt be surprised if cavill isnt used in this one either.

As for who I would want for Batman, thats hard to say, I would prefer Batman be older, established. The one who forms the league.

Nah Batman shouldn't form the league an incident should be the reson they firm not off one persons idea.

Right, in that case, they didn't have a choice. If they wanted to do the JLA movie, they either did it without Bale or not at all. There's no reason to do that here. There isn't another actor playing the role in the picture who won't (or can't) do it.

There's a big difference between being forced to make a bad decision and choosing to do unnecessarily. Also, my guess is having separate actors as Batman played a big role in deciding to abandon the project.

As much as a copycat as it would be from The Avengers, having a post-credit scene at the end of Superman hinting at a JL movie would be the most exciting. Mention Bruce Wayne or the Batman in any way and the Fanboys will wet their pants.

Agreed, though I don't think Batman/Wayne should be the cameo. I think its best to introduce someone else who's never been on film. Aquaman & Flash are the best choices.

Also, I'm all for Joe Levitt playing Batman in a JLA movie. Put him in the gym 6 months & give him Tom Brady's haircut.

Not to mention, Cavill's not very tall so he won't tower over JGL (its like a two inch difference).

I'd much rather have Robin Blake join the JLA as the new Batman than some Bruce Wayne recast that won't hold a candle to Bale.

The fact WB doesn't have these actors signed for multiple films like Downey and the rest for MCU again makes me think they don't have a clue. They don't need to emulate the MCU in its entirety, but only signing actors for 3 films or whatnot is not smart if you're trying to be build a universe...which it seems they are not. le sigh...

In WB's defense, their solo Nolan Batman films have done just as well as The Avengers with no tie-ins or 3D.

If they wanna pursue the JLA, great, but they are by no means desperate to follow in Marvel's footsteps.

Aside from The Avengers, Marvel's other 5 films didn't even scratch the surface of the amount of money WB made from TDK & TDKR.

Possibly, but again introducing the JL doesn't seem smart if they aren't really going to connect a common universe. Then again, this is WB and they have shows and cartoons all over the place, so who is to say.

There's a pretty funny list of "Ten Superman Super Powers That Would Ruin MAN OF STEEL" over at **************. I'm not gonna link to it here.

Some of them are just amazingly stupid. I mean laughably stupid. None of them will obviously be in MOS, but when you think of it (which you really shouldnt) all of Supes' powers are pretty silly. Only flight, I guess, could make sense via alien tech or highly advanced telekinetic abilities. But yeah, Supes' shouldnt be explained as such.

EDIT: Ok, even the name got axed. Hehe..

Yeah, what's with that? I always find it humorous.

It was a humourous article, don't think it was done with the person thinking any of those powers would be in MOS.

Yeah I want to know why CBM links get blocked, yeah they post BS but they also post stuff thats not.

They do. They're also one of the fastest sites to post CBM news and rumors first. At least to my knowledge.

Apologies if this has been discussed before, but since it really relates to that article, have people thought since this is a more 'realistic' approach to Superman, we might see a of his more colourful powers left out?

I'm wondering about the fate of frost breath and x ray vision under this new approach. If the teaser trailer is to be believed, this thing looks pretty grounded in reality, Krypton side of things withstanding. Do people think if he suddenly used frost breathe after all that effort spent making this real, it would be a bit hokey? Although I could definitely see his heat vision vision being kept in, it would allow for some great visual moments in a fight with Zod which we haven't come close to seeing on film yet. Any power which could potentially look as cool as this, Zack Synder surely won't leave out.

I could see the freezing aspect being left out but he should still be able to have a pretty powerful blow.

The thing is, WB is wary about signing actors for 4 or more movies (strangely they didn't have multi-pic options when they signed the Hangover stars for the following sequels)... hence the standard 3-movie clause for their solo superhero outings. Marvel Studios' decision to have their actors sign multi-pic contract options up to 4-9 films was a risky idea to start with if the movies didn't hit it big.

WB needs to take more risks like that. It's not going to fare well if MOS is a sleeper hit, WB decides to use Cavill's first option for JL and the other for a MOS sequel. And then they'll have to write up a new contract for Cavill if they want to do a third MOS pic.

Best scenario is probably renegotiate with the actors between pics to extend their contract for another movie or two. They did that with the Twilight actors -- twice in a row, actually.

So assuming if a new trailer is attached to "The Hobbit" in December, when should we expect to get a confirmation on that? Next Month?

I think they'll just keep the super breath, but not the frost breath. Although I would love for the frost breath to be in there as well, just to give his abilities more variety. Some cool things can be done with ice.

About the heat-vision, I think that's going definitely be included. Heat vision, flight, and super strength are powers that are a must for Supes imo. Not sure about the x-ray vision but I'd like it if that were included too.

I think that they will keep the various powers, that helps distinguish the modern Superman from the originally created character by S&S.

But, they may show his powers develop slowly, meaning that some of the powers will manifest as he grows older.

Like in sequels? I can see that.

I have to see his powers... It didn't occur to me that they'd do away with X-ray but it makes sense that they might. I want to see the powers that separates him from the others and the clones. Plus all the others they stole.

I am sure that in MOS, they will show Flight, Heat Vision, Super Hearing and Indestructibility.

In sequels we may see, X-Ray Vision and Freeze Breath.

Or, maybe all of above in MOS.

in regards to a JL film, what WB needs to realize is that the success of Avengers wasn't just one movie. it was the totality of the individual movies, starting with Iron Man, and using the same actors ( except Banner/Hulk ) to weave the narrative that lead to the Avengers.

sure, Avengers could have been enjoyed by itself as a fun movie. but it was more enjoyable and meaningful to the fans who had watched the prior films and had developed a familiarity with the individual characters and their actors.

casting one set of actors for an ensemble film, and another for the solo films, is just boneheaded stupid. especially if you are going to be running these films roughly around the same time.

do it, WB. do it and then wonder why your JL film doesn't perform as well as Avengers.

either concentrate on solo films. or on an ensemble JL film franchise. if you want to do both, use the same actors. if not, don't try to have your cake and eat it too.

Agreed. The only thing I want WB to emulate from the MCU is the thought behind their ensemble and the universe building involved.

Yeah that would be awesome, I'm hoping for something similar to happen to Thor in his sequel films.

It would also be nice for them to get a bit of a power boost each film like Spidey did in Raimi's film.

Yeah definitely, they do it for IM tech-wise, so I'm pretty sure they'll do it for Thor or else it'll just be more of the same. Now since Supes is being handled by a different studio I can't way the same for him. I really can imagine Snyder doing something like that though. That goes for the power/strength increases as well. The longer Supes spends around the sun the more he would develop.
