Who said short movies are absolutely better? All people are getting at is you don't HAVE to have a three hour run time to have a good movie, and that longer is not necessarily better. It's about the content.

I'd be a little concerned if it were less than two hours, but I don't see how 2:10 is cause for panic. Yes 2:30 would be great but if those extra minutes are just filler then there's no point.

I really think some of you don't quite grok how much can happen in a minute, or even 5 minutes onscreen. Try timing a few of your favorite scenes next time you watch something. It's longer than you think.

It's a bit concerning how little room there is in that though. I want this movie to breathe a bit. I mean I know it's become popular here in the last few days to say that short movies are better, but of all the stories, I think it's fair for Superman's origin, plus Krypton backstory, plus Zod fights to take a bit of extra time.

I believe a movie should be as long as it needs to be given everything that happens in it. If Snyder and co have found a way to tell the story in 90 minutes and think it works, then that is the perfect length - if they feel it works in 140 minutes, then that is best.

I couldn't care less how long the movie is as long as it does not feel like it drags, has a good story and keeps me involved in the movie throughout. As long as it entertains me completely, it can be as long or short as the makers see fit.

Details on the soundtrack..
Both the standard and deluxe editions will include the epic track Man of Steel (Hans Original Sketchbook) which clocks in at over 28 minutes long. This exclusive track is performed solely by Zimmer, and allows listeners to experience firsthand his initial experiments with the film's music, which ultimately lay the foundation for the film's final score.

The deluxe edition will be housed in a special embossed steel case, contain 24 score selections, and give fans the ability to access multiple videos showing an exclusive, behind-the-scenes look at the creation of the music.
Those fans who purchase the CD version of the deluxe edition will have the opportunity to download all 24 songs in DTS Headphone: X, which reproduces a cinematic multi-speaker surround sound experience using only the user's headphones.
DTS Headphone:X presents a whole new way to hear mobile entertainment over headphones. The technology garnered rave reviews from the likes of The Wall Street Journal, and Cnet, among others at this year s CES convention.

In addition to his orchestral arrangements, Zimmer, no stranger to stepping outside the confines of traditional film scoring, has assembled two unique musical entities to contribute music to Man of Steel. The first, a drum orchestra, which was brought together for the album, is described by soundtrack co-producer Peter Asher as some of the best drummers in the world all playing simultaneously in a space designed for a symphony orchestra using not only rock drum kits but tympani and field drums as well.
The membership of this elite assembly consisists of many of today s top musicians including John JR Robinson, Jason Bonham, Josh Freese, Pharrell Williams, Danny Carey, Satnam Ramgotra, Toss Panos, Jim Keltner, Curt Bisquera, Trevor Lawrence Jr., Matt Chamberlain, Ryeland Allison, Bernie Dresel, Vinnie Colaiuta and Sheila E. Their contribution, under Zimmer's musical direction, creates a towering and powerful musical accompaniment to the film.

Another distinctive group the composer assembled was a gathering of eight of music's finest pedal steel guitarists who play classical string section parts. This collective, consisting of Chas Smith, Marty Rifkin, Skip Edwards, Boo Bernstein, Peter Frieberger, Rick Schmidt, JD Maness, John McClung, was described by Asher as, a uniquely new metallic orchestra added it's own distinct and soaring musical stamp to the soundtrack.

 I can't believe that people are concerned that a movie is NOT over 2 hours and 10 minutes (or however long it is). How about you watch the movie first and then ***** about it being too short. You have no idea what the pacing is going to be like and you have no idea how much time is going to be allotted to different scenes. If we go see the movie and it turns out that it did seem kind of rushed in places, then yeah you might have a valid point. I understand that this movie is very important to us fans that have been wanting a movie like this for years, but quite frankly the studio couldn't care less about that.

It's as if every beverage has to be a Big Gulp. Notice how flat the soda gets at around 2/3 the way through....ice all melted? :woot::O

It's SUPERMAN! He needs over 2 hours and 10 minutes! :argh:

:o

Hasn't the film been done for a long while now? The post production window for this film has been heavenly long, a SFX supervisor's dream. Maybe the credits and runtime have already been locked and loaded?

Right now, yes the film has been done for a while. But that interview was done months ago. They mentioned the film still being in post production.

There's absolutlely no way they're going to cram the Clarks pod landing, his super hearing freakout, the bus crash, Jonathan Kent showing him the ship, the tornado, Jonathan Kents death, him playing around with a cape, etc. into 15 mins though. It's impossible. Something's gotta give.
Who says its so linear?
they can spead it out with flashbacks.

Yes, but edit still needs to be locked to go into a lot of other processes like sound.

I've been browsing this forum for the past few months taking in the comments and reactions of the fans regarding this film. Some were good, some were bad, others made me go,.

But the release of the third trailer has opened the floodgates to some comments reminiscent of what happened seven years ago, when another major superhero film was set to be released. The comments were exactly the same as they are now. But we all know what happened when the film was released. It got decent reviews but was considered a disappointment by fans.

It is for this reason I offer this advice to each and every one of you here: Don't get your hopes up, because if the film isn't what you expect, you'll be terribly disappointed.

Whoa, I just realized something. Do you guys realize only have about 6 weeks until the freaking premier of this movie?! I'm guessing by saying 6 though. It's 7 weeks until the film is released worldwide, but WOW it's getting close!

Anywhere from 125 - 140 minutes will be fine. I trust in Snyder and Nolan to make the best choice for telling the story regardless of runtime.

Thing is, that 3 minute trailer offered a heckuva lot more than SR ever thought of offering. So by that reasoning alone, it's already a better movie.

Question: there will be more movie posters for MOS, right? Because the novelization cover, as seen on amazon.com, is using the handcuffed Superman image, which isn't a bad image, but the other poster would've been much better, or something else yknow

hehe yeah it happens every time. You start off following these things with like two years to go, and it seems like it'll be forever, then all of a sudden it's 2 months! 5 weeks! EEEEE! It really sneaks up on you sometimes.

Are you trying to seduce me? Cause two can play at that game!

In a few days, we'll get to say "MOS comes out next month".
