All Things Superman: An Open Discussion - - - - Part 69

There are plenty of talented people who can take the reigns of the DC Universe besides Nolan and Syncopy.

They are not the only ones capable of doing it right, and lets not forget, Legendary's track record is far from perfect: SR, the Titans movies, The Hangover II & III, among other mediocre movies.

As long as WB have Snyder and Goyer involved, they should be fine, although there are no guarantees of course.
Why hasn't it happened yet then?

People underrate how important the driving force is. Those that bring the talent together and make it work.

Can't wait to see this next Tuesday in Houston! Thanks again to the poster that posted it earlier.

Why you... :argh:
Awesome guy, you. :cmad:
Can't wait to *hear what one of us thinks!

A WF film before a JL film isn't a good idea IMO. It will take away from the complete hype of the JL film because Batman meeting Superman would've been seen already.

As opposed to the other way around?

Maybe, but they need to prove it in live action. Animation wise, DC is awesome, but outside the Nolan films, it's been a rough road for getting tier one comic films off the ground for them.

A fraction of fans hate to admit it, but The Nolans were a big reason as to why MOS was crafted. As visually beautiful as this film is Goyer is not the lead writer you want spearheading a script for any movie. If WB believed in David so much then Flash and other DC heroes would have been adapted already.

If WB seriously wants to make money off of their DC properties then they need to hire talented writers (not second-tier guys). Nolan isn't going to be around for the next installment.

Well the GA would look at JL being like a sequel to WF, and sequels tend to do better financially and get more hyped up than original films.

The draw of a JLA movie isn't so much Superman and Batman, but a large DC universe. A WF would establish that universe, while giving fans what they want in the meantime. It would also allow there to be more time to plan JLA, so that it isn't rushed. There are too many benefits to doing WF first to ignore.

Having them meet in JL first would be better IMO for 2 reasons:

1) JL stories have more potential than WF stories.

2) You can take advantage of the "Batman meets Superman" hype by bringing people into theatres and getting them exposed to other DC characters. This will also increase the chances of Flash, WW, and the rest of getting a solo film/franchise.

Maybe but part of the reason why The Avengers made so much money was because the idea it did was never seen before. There is no guarantee the sequel will do just as much money because it now has been seen. Same thing applies to JL. The idea of Batman and Superman teaming up will excite people for the first film but after the first, people just may get used to it and the appeal of JL won't be as high.

I disagree. Introducing Batman with Wonder Woman, Flash, Green Lantern, Aquaman, and/or Martian Manhunter takes that away.

Exactly. It makes more sense if WF happen, then Superman and Batman bring the League together. Heck you could hint said event at the end of WF.

Have mysterious stranger say "We need to talk."

Of course, if WF comes after a Wonder Woman movie, then it makes sense for Diana herself to appear.

I'd have Bruce at his Bat computer, and Clark high above Earth, both identifying other superheroes.

Good stuff. So we should be getting a few opinions on the movie tomorrow then?

Spoilers! Spoilers! Spoilers!
